  Mixed plate was amazing and enough for two. Service was weird. For example, it seems there is only one lady who can bring you a box for your leftovers. We had 2 different people ask us if we needed anything. When we said, "a box" we were told this one lady would take care of it. When she finally came, she didn't bring a box, she took our plates to the back, put the food in a box and wrapped it with plastic wrap. It was a nice touch, but if the first person who asked us had just brought a box, we wouldn't have been late for our movie.

  As always it’s A number one at Gates for Lunch. Our sandwich’s were hot and tasty. This BBQ is one of the best in the country.

  I liked this place. The ribs were tender and smoky good. The portion was good but not large. The sauce was a little on the vinegar side, but I added the sweet sauce that was more to my taste. The place was well decorated, clean and the staff was friendly. The reason I didn't give Gates 5 stars was the meat choice does not come with any sides. My rib shorts were $11.75 but the fries were $3.95. And the fries, which were also very good, were easily a double order. I would have preferred paying an extra $3 or $4 for the meat and having a small cole slaw and small fry coming with it. Obviously this place has done just fine the way it has been doing it. All in all, very good.

  After work dinner with co-workers. Hadn't been to Gate's in a while. Enjoyed my sandwich platter, & fries. Delightful & friendly staff. Then after early dinner, myself & co-worker went to the bar area, which I had no idea that there was a bar area in the back. Very nice atmosphere to visit, or have a small party. Enjoyed myself very much. Must come back for some burnt ends.
