“My first visit to the clinic was about eleven months ago. I took my Siamese cat, her name is Chloe for her vaccinations and a routine check up. Chloe is a sweetheart if she knows you, but she does not like surprises ...like going to the vet kind of surprises. She was in a new cage I had just bought and she managed to get the door open and even knock it off. Getting her back in the cage while standing in the parking lot was traumatic for us all. We certainly entertained the people watching from inside the building. What does this have to do with my review of the clinic, staff and Dr. Harris one might ask? Well, with Chloe pulling Garfield [the cat) moves and my daughter and I struggling to get her in the cage , so that she would not get loose and take a runner... were upset, tired and not happy. We went in for our appointment and the front desk personnel were very polite and from the moment the doctor took Chloe ( freaked/upset cat out of her cage; she handled her very professionally, respectfully and put her at ease quickly. I asked questions and she answered respectfully and professionally. We went back to front desk to check out and pay and quite frankly I was shocked at the price they gave me. I ask " Really?" The price was so reasonable and way less than I had expected it would cost. I have paid 5 and 6 times higher for the same type of visits at other veterinary offices. I was elated and quite frankly relieved. A few reviewers seemed to think the doctor was a...let's say, a little ruff around the edges/unprofessional. So, what's the point? What should it matter is if she is a good vet and if she cares about her patients . The furry patients. She is also a large animal vet and that is not a job for the timid. A few reviewers stated that she (the practice) only cares about getting and making more money. I think if that were true; she would charge a whole lot more then she does, right? Want a vet with a really nice office, more " professional looking staff/doctor... you will easily find some. Veterinary clinics are notorious for charging huge amounts of money. I think it is great that there are veterinary doctors that will provide a service that is affordable for everyone. Kudos! Oh, and paying a lot of money may guarantee a nicer office, but it doesn't guarantee a more professional doctor who listens, treats you or your pet better and is 100% perfect and mistake proof. However, there is another veterinary here in town that I would highly recommend and would definitely be going to, if I was not taking my pets to Dr. Harris. This Veterinary handled all the arrangements for me when my precious baby Corey, my chocolate lab, passed away. They were fantastic. So caring and understanding and I love them for it. Renfro Veterinary Services gave us caring, excellent service, at what was a heartbreaking time for us. If the time comes we need another vet, for whatever reason, it will be them. However, for now, I will continue to bring my much loved pets to Dr. Harris for their care and use the money I save to help the humans in my life. If you like or don't like my review, that's fine. In the end, it is your choice where to take your pets. I, for one, am glad we all have a choice.”

“Doc Stewart is very honest about any outcome concerning your pet or farm stock. Some may take it as rude but he calls it as it is, which I welcome and respect fully. He works with the Humane Society, offering his services to the needs of abandoned and stray animals. He personally helped me several years ago when I brought in a stray that had eventually freed himself from a trap and drug himself to our newly purchased little farm (moving here from Gladstone) with a terribly mangled leg. I loaded an unknown animal in the back of my vehicle and my three small children and drove to the closest veterinarian. By chance, Shirley from the Humane Society was inside and saw the distress it was causing me and my three children. The degree of injury only allowed two choices; put him to sleep, or amputate the leg. I didn't have the funds for a surgery and he now became my dog. He drug himself to the only people that had given him love and food for about one week before he had disappeared. Shirley offered the assistance of the Humane Society to pay a large percent of the expenses, if I would promise to keep & care for him; no question to this decision! He was the most dedicated, loyal, and big hearted dog I knew and he lived many years beyond this a very happy three legged dog. He had no restrictions and could run as fast as the other dogs. I will never forget Doc. Stewart, Shirley (she has since passed away) or the Ray County Humane Society. Thanks Doc!”

“Excellent medical service from a friendly staff. The doctor will explain everything clearly and make sure you know what's what and how to do it. I'm going back.”
