I wanted to take self defense classes all my life. I started training with Jeff a month ago and I'm loving it. I am a beginner and Jeff is training with dedication, patience and personal attention. The classes are challenging, informative, conducted in a light and friendly manner. I'm really impressed with the skills I've picked up and how I have strengthen my ability to defend myself in various situations. You don't have to be physically strong to be able to protect yourself. “I met Jacob Winkler almost 10 years ago when he was just beginning his practice. My son had died by suicide and I needed help in so many ways. I had tried to see a few other therapists (1 psychiatrist, 1 psychologist) and they were awful in that I felt like a "specimen" to them, and they didn't seem to be able to help me in the way I needed; they just weren't listening and were stuck in their own method, and it not only didn't help; it hurt. Then someone recommended Jacob to me. At the time, while he wasn't experienced, he was very on the money. He listened and asked the right questions, and tried to help me the way that would work best for me. It made a tremendous difference to me, a mother who was in unbearable and inconsolable grief. I imagine that with the experience he has gleaned over the past 10 years, that he has only been able to enhance his skills., though I haven't had any contact with him in all this time. When I met him, he was the essence of caring and sincerity. Those aren't skills; those are just who a person is by nature. And, those qualities were healing.
