“Irises are my favorite flower so I love to visit these gardens every few years during bloom season. Ever see tiny miniature iris? Giant bearded iris? Irises in almost every color known and previously unknown to horticulture? It is all here. Bring a camera, hat and sunscreen and indulge in a few hours of sublime beauty. The town is fun to explore as well. Beautiful garden, the largest iris garden in the country. Beautiful grounds. Check out all the estates along the way with massive front lawns. Run by volunteers so make sure you put some money in the donation jar when you enter. Check the schedule for music in the summer evenings”

“Beautiful little park. Glad I visited. It comes up so fast that I didn't even realize I was there. There definitely isn't a River here and sure enough one by Elizabeth. Which Elizabeth is it btw? The big one across the pond? We have a garden State Parkway, which I understand due to it being the motto of our here great state. But Elizabeth River?! I gotta get the story on that one one of these day.”

“Not you typical park. As you come upon this waterfront gem, you see a large lighthouse. There is a miniature golf course, a large pier, pavilion for summer concerts and a boat ramp. There are plenty of seats to enjoy the nice days. There is a little of everything for everyone to enjoy. Bait cutting stations for the fishermen, walking paths with exercise stations strategically placed. There are restrooms centrally located, and right near the swings / slides for the young ones. This is a well thought out park that is continuing to expand. Kudos to the planners and facilitators.”

“Large enough area for a group of kids, and parents. New play things added this year which is GREAT. Large vantage points to keep an eye out for the kids. Been going there for over 30 years now Kids and grandkids. Best time to go is either early before 1pm or at 3pm the day campers are there other times. If you want your child to play with lots of other children. Then the times of 1-3 would be great. Campers leave at 3pm. Shaded areas cooled by the trees.”
