Spanish Immersion Workshop

SIW is amazing! My daughter is 4 years old and loves going ! We can see a huge difference in her understand and speaking of the Spanish language. The activities are always very creative and fun for the kids .
She will also be joining for summer camp! We can’t wait!

My family and I are long-standing supporters of Spanish Immersion Workshop. Our 3 children attended the school. Our eldest child who is now 12 years old, started out in the Dix Hills location when she was 2 years old. She is fluent in Spanish and is now taking advance Native Spanish in her current Middle School. My youngest is currently attending SIW in the Garden City location and she was singing songs and repeating Spanish words very soon after she started. The teachers are very caring, nurturing and take great care with the child’s needs. The school really put a lot of training and preparation into lessons. The language is used from the moment of dropping the child off and continues until you pick up your child. This environment is great for encouraging fluency in Spanish. My children have gained friends from wide variety of cultures through their exposure to the language and they use the language when we go out to restaurants or other local cultural events. My proudest moments as a mom is hearing my 12 year old speak Spanish with her peers.

My son had the absolute best time in Spanish camp! He couldn’t stop talking about all the fun he had with Miss Glenda and Miss Monica! In just 2 weeks he was saying sentences in Spanish and his vocabulary grew so much! They also have a playlist with great songs in Spanish they send the parents to bring his learnings to life at home! He loved dancing with me at home! Thanks to all the Spanish teachers! You can tell you really love what you do everyday!

SIW was highly recommended by a close friend of mine and it has been a great fit for our 2.5-year-old son. Even though English and Spanish is spoken in our household, English is our primary language and we wanted to give our son the opportunity to learn Spanish, as it can sometimes be very easy for kids, nowadays to forget or not practice Spanish as their second language. Our goal is for our son to be fluent in both languages.

We enrolled him in summer camp with the expectation of giving him, his first experience in a Spanish classroom environment, away from home for a couple of hours. My son attends camp 2x a week for the summer.

The first day he walked right in and didn’t even look back. The second day was a bit different, he was aware that he would be away from mommy, so he cried and it made me want to cry as well. The reason I share this is because the teachers were amazing in making my son feel comfortable enough to go in while consoling me as well and letting me know he would be okay. One teacher in particular, Miss Glenda assured me that he was in good hands and later sent me a picture of my son having a great time, to confirm.

I love that we have found a school that will teach our son Spanish. The school
makes learning the language fun. They created a Spanish music play list on Spotify, that related to the theme for the summer (which for this year was “a trip to Colombia”).They also incorporated the theme into the arts & crafts portion of the class. In addition, to the music and the learning lessons, my son also has an amazing time with the water activities that the summer camp provides.

In summary, SIW has been a great experience for our son. We wanted to start him off in a school setting slowly so that he could get adjust while learning Spanish. At 2.5 years of age and never being away from mommy or daddy, our goal was also to have our son develop school structure like listening to the teacher, waiting his turn, sharing, etc., which has greatly improved at home as well.

SIW has provided our son with a safe and pleasant Spanish speaking environment; which has made him happy and excited to return to class.

We highly recommend SIW and look forward to continuing our son’s pre-school with SIW in the fall 2022.

Sending my children to Spanish Immersion Workshop is one of the best decisions I have made as a parent. I wanted to give my children the gift of a second language and I could not be more pleased by their progress. They are not only learning and speaking Spanish, but having fun! The staff and teachers are amazing. They are kind, supportive, and loving. I feel secure knowing they are in good hands.
