“Dr. Freilich is a diamond in the ruff! It's very rare nowadays when you have a doctor that takes his time with you, doesn't rush you and explains everything to you. He does not treat you like another number that needs to be pushed through in order to get to the next patient to meet a hospital's quota. His front office, on the other hand, is another story. I had called for a week to ensure that a referral would be sent to my mother's specialist so she would be able to be seen. My mother has ovarian cancer and was specially placed i to see this specialist before her surgery date. Needless to say, even with that explained to the front office and calling them each day up until the morning of her appointment, the referral was still not there. When I called, one of the front desk individuals, Alexandra, decided to simply tell me that there was nothing she could do and that the doctor was with a patient and then, to add insult to injury, continues to read from a script about thank you for choosing Pro health..seriously?? Being in the medical field for some time, I know that a referral takes 5-10 minutes tops to process...this took almost a full week for a patient who is undergoing surgery!! when I arrived at the specialist's office, they, too were perplexed by the ineptness of the office and so the office manager called that office requesting the referral and they placed the office manager on hold for 45 minutes!!! UNACCEPTABLE!! When I do write to whomever I need to about this situation (and I will), I will be very clear and very specific as to the details that made a 20 minute doctor's visit a 3 1/2 hour visit waiting for this referral! And this was not the first time. My mother had to be seen by two other specialists and the same wait time occurred. Dr. Freilich, if you read these, you are an amazing doctor, but I am afraid that with the colossal failure that is your front office, you will start to lose patients. My mother deserves the same prompt treatment as everyone does and I am sure if this happened to one their mothers, they would have been at your office quicker than you could hear the click of the phone when it hung up and they would be over that counter faster than you can say your name. All I ask is that your front office treat others with the promptness, dignity and the respect they would treat their own family. If they cannot do this..if it is not within the fabric of their being to be humble and conscientious and caring towards others, they are certainly in the wrong profession. I am sorry for you, Dr. Freilich, that your reputation needs to be tainted by those who feel the need to be callous and unsympathetic to those who enter your office. The front desk needs to understand that their job deals with people who are ill and sick and are possibly facing the inevitable end of life. They are the face of the doctors they work for. They are the front line. People will unfortunately judge you by the people who work for you. Is it fair, no, but that is how life works. If they cannot be compassionate to those they meet, then it's time to think about other options. Thank you so very much, Dr. Freilich, for your compassion and for your understanding.”
