Battery Park

Great place to run/bike and eat food.

Beautiful small park on the southern tip of Manhattan with a view on the Statue of Liberty. This park is iconic and appears in numerous movies such as Desperately Seeking Susan with Madonna or Penguins of Madagascar just to name two. From there you can head north either along the East River or the Hudson River, extremely enjoyable walks either way, and you can walk all the way to Midtown and above.

I love this park, seriously! On a clear day you can see Ellis Island and Statue of liberty. The park offers flat, clean pathways, entrances to the fort, various monuments and sculptures and countless piers that take you to the surrounding boroughs and islands including the Lady liberty herself. The walk from 1 end to the other will take you 1.5-3 hours depending on how fast you walk. You will get the best camera angles of Lower Manhattan including the world trade centre and theirs a subway station nearby too.

A visit to Battery Park is a must on any visit to New York. Located on the Hudson River, it is a 7-acre Park to walk through, sit on a bench and enjoy the sights ( people watching). The river is so big down here and you can see the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and New Jersey.
