Famous for their soup dumplings, yeah we all know that. Less known is their Shanghai fried rice is super good. And wine chicken. They have a few locations in the city but find it easiest to get in to this one.
My friend wanted us to eat here because she said it was the best Chinese food she’s ever had and it definitely lived up to the hype. The service was great and efficient and the food was even better. We got the pork steamed soup dumplings, shrimp lo mein, and sesame chicken. It was a lot of food but delicious
This is a no-nonsense restaurant that is probably best known for their "soup dumplings"... the soup is actually inside the dumpling instead of the other way around. This is quite a tasty dish, but for me, the novelty has run its course. It's a good menu item and quite different but their Shanghai wonton soup is actually better. It is also a specialty of the house; it's authentic and delicious. Their pork, beef, and chicken entrees are always consistent, hot, and hit the spot. Their spicy dishes are indeed spicy but they'll gladly alter the level of heat up or down a bit if you prefer. My favorite dish though, is the Jumbo Shrimps and Scallops with Spicy Garlic Sauce. The shrimp and scallops are truly jumbo and the seafood is cooked to perfection. The service is fast and dependable and you should definitely stop in if you're craving Chinese food near Midtown Manhattan. By the way, they don't serve alcohol.
The dumplings were incredible. You have to get some. The service was great. We were seated in a reasonable amount of time on a busy Friday night. The food was fantastic. We were all very satisfied, even the kids (ages 8 & 9).
