“I went to this camp in the early 60's every summer. Braeside is where I learned to swim, fellowship with others, was my first experience sitting around a camp-fire listening to stories, learning new songs and having the time of my life. I will always cherish my camp memories and the opportunity to be in such a wonderful place.”

Thomas Bull Launch

Address: Campbell Hall, NY 10916, USA

Park

“Paddled 6 bridges, 7 miles upstream from Thomas Bull Launch to just past Rt 17 where the water was too shallow/too rapid (Class 1?) to paddle in. Other than where I turned around this was a quiet stretch of river. Saw a bald eagle by one of the middle bridges, then a swimming muskrat, a great blue heron and other smaller birds. Other than that, had the river to myself. The level was at 822 cfs according to the Gardiner gauge. Too much below this and one would have had to contend with scraping the bottom. I will try going downstream and back another day.”

Campground Rv park Park Lodging

“Very pleasant campground, beautiful area, really nice by the river. We stayed one night, tent camping. The site was roomy enough, but the neighbors were all partying till late. Granted it was a holiday weekend, but still didn't make it easy to get to sleep early. Main bathroom where the showers are was nice and clean. The bathroom by the tent sites needed some serious updates, but to be fair the toilets, urinals and sinks were very clean. We will be coming back to camp there again .”

It's a fairly easy hike but I would *definitely* bring some sturdier shoes and expect to climb up a bunch of rocks. If you want to do a longer hike that is possible too but it's great for moderate hikers and those who have a bit more experience too.”
