Wonderful park at the end of the peninsula, very large. Ideal for horseback riding (which you should inquire of before coming) great for strolling through gardens, fields, trails and one of the best bike riding paths in these parts. You can see a fair amount of birdlife, especially by the lake considering it is a Bird Conservation Area. I would recommend spending the whole day just walking around and exploring. I bought a blanket and snacks and took nice breaks between the attractions. There are a few structures on the grounds, worth exploring around. The park does a fantastic job of holding on the history Manor style with all of it's sprawling grounds.
Always a gem! Serene and a view that you cannot find anywhere else. Make sure to walk all the way down to the big house!
Great park, very scenic, great trails! Good for biking, hiking, in the winter cross country skiing, fishing, the Eroding Cliffs, the Fresh Water Pond and beach and the Long Island Sound are great sites. The English Garden is very charming.
My favorite place to escape to on Long Island. Whether I’m going for a run around the 3 mile loop or walking through the gardens and hidden paths or even moseying on down to the beach behind the mansion, there’s something for everyone. Plenty of nature to take in on this north shore oasis. Parking can be steep at $8 7 days a week, so I’d recommend buying the empire pass. The pass will get you in all the NYS parks for a year for a flat rate.
Beautiful park - a really nice getaway from the city! It's great for walking, hiking and riding bikes. There are horse stables too. They have both paved and unpaved trails which is nice depending on your needs. If you can, walk down to the beaches for nice views. There is plenty of parking and it costs $8.
