“*This incident happened late February of 2018, I couldn’t remember the shop name but have finally found it!* I came here on my way from Charlotte to Boone after I was hearing a horrible scraping sound; I had just gotten my oil changed at a Firestone in CLT and they didn’t put something back on right that was hanging down and dragging on the highway. I drove off the highway into Newton and saw this shop. Going to mechanics can be intimidating as a woman, especially when you have a problem. I had my dog with me and my car was fairly new to me so I was a little frazzled to say the least. But as soon as I arrived (unannounced, just showed up) a gentleman who’s name I wish I could remember promptly greeted me and after explaining what had happened, he pulled my car in right away and fixed the problem. Not only did he go out of his way to help me (and super quickly), but he physically wouldn’t take my money. Very pleased with the service I had here and if I lived closer this would be my go-to.”

“David and Amy are natural hosts with a welcoming smile. They always find time to answer questions or attend to a need. Less than a year ago they opened the home as an inn after carefully restoring the house. It is both tastefully decorated and super comfortable! The beds, covered in highest quality soft cotten sheets and duvet, make you feel like you slept on a cloud. Guests look well rested when they come into the dining room for the well selected continental breakfast offerings (which often are complemented with yummy treats like their baked from scratch date nut or banana bread). The hosts clearly care about details which make life easier and are very good at keeping all living things - including live plants around the house -healthy and happy! David exlicitly invites guests to enjoy the living room as theirs, so they gather in front of the great fireplace, grab a read from the library or relax and enjoy take out supper from one of the local eateries on the porch. As a dog lover who lost her own buddy to old age recently, I am so happy to see their dogs play in the fenced yard. What a great place to come home to after a day of work or visiting family or sites in the area! I have staid at many luxury B&Bs around the world and enjoyed them all, but I keep coming back here because there is no better home away from home in this area than the Holly and Ivy Inn!”
