“On my day off, I pointed my Tahoe south, and just drove. I eventually wound up in Troy, NC at lunch time. A Yelp search found Martha’s Grill in nearby Star, NC It has a 4 star rating, but the data set is REALLY small with only 5 previous reviews. Looked kind of divey, though, so I headed that way. Definitely a divey place that is well stocked with locals. VERY reminiscent of Tucker’s Grill in Horneytown. I ordered the giant cheeseburger, a hot dog all the way, and fries. The cheeseburger was a 3.5 star effort, with a nice char on the outside and a good flavor. That it was cooked slightly too long is my only gripe. The hot dog was excellent: 4+ stars. As I mentioned in my review of The Dugout, the wiener makes a huge difference in the hot dog experience, and the one Marth’s uses has a really good flavor. I was shocked to learn that it was just a food service hot dog—but it was really a good tasting dog. The chili was good but a little mild, and the slaw was tasty and not too dry and not too wet. The things that push this to 4 stars are the quality of the hot dog and its price: $1.55 for a very good hot dog is very hard to beat. Furthermore, the staff is very friendly. One concern I had was the 90.0 sanitation grade. It is three days later and I’m still alive, but this needs to be fixed. The area is beautiful—at the foot of the ancient Uwharrie Mountains. You can definitely enjoy a lovely drive in the country in this area, have a good lunch, and rub elbows with some locals.”

“Hole in the wall(of a gas station) diner. It is not named Tina's country kitchen though. It's Abel's grill. Unless they have renamed the diner in the past week. EXCELLENT FOOD! FAST SERVICE! STAFF IS VERY FRIENDLY! AND THE PRICES ARE GREAT FOR WHAT YOU GET. My personal suggestion is the chorizo burrito at breakfast with a cup of their hot sauce. And a side of potatoes. Total is like 7 something. Well worth it.”

“Love this place great lunch spot a little difficult getting in and out of the parking lot. Definitely best if you call I'm advance if you are on the clock. But food is made to order staff is very nice and if you ever want a good hot sub that will run down your arm as you eat it this place is top tier. I will try to get pictures of the food in the future.”

“Camping in Uwharrie on a sasquatch 4x4 safari with the boys. Rain rolled in one evening so we took a ride for some grub. Found Bigfoot, great food and a fun spot to chill all in one spot, just down the road from Eldorado Outpost. Must visit spot!”

“We really like this place we just happen to find it one day while going to Uwharrie National Park. The food is absolutley delicious & the service is awesome thats why we decided to come back a 2nd time and it didnt disappoint us. The only drawback is it takes a long time to get your food so get you a few drinks & kickback. Other than that, they have a fantastic bar its on the lake great food awesome waitresses what more could you want. We highly recommend thid place to anybody in the area you wont be disappointed!”
