“I love the school. I love the fact that parents work as a team with the school to make things happen. Maplewood Elementary has a small but active neighborhood association and a supportive community. We are loving Principal Bailey and are looking forward to spending time at the school, helping out in whatever way we can. My son's class this year will only have 18 kids (Kindergarten) thanks to the work of Principal Bailey and the kindergarten parents.”

“I studied 6 string guitar as a student of Kyle Smith for quite some time. Then I was away for a while and returned to his lessons. I became a fan of jazz guitar and came to hear him play the sole guitar spot with the Shedd Institute house band, the Emerald City Jazz Kings. Let me put it this way: if you want a teacher who will quickly discern exactly where you are in skill, experience and discipline with your music, this is your teacher. From that initial assessment point the student's own input strongly influences the direction of the learning experience. He will take you where your see yourself going as a musician - and challenge you to ends you thought you could not keep up with as a student. I have grown more than I ever anticipated that I could when I worked consistently to learn the mix of theory, scales, chords, improvisation and ear training. My first jazz composition which I studied was Duke Ellington's Satin Doll. I don't have room to tell you all that I learned in those melodies and rhythms. My pick easily for the best guitar teacher I've ever had is Kyle Smith and I've been around a while in Eugene and Chicago and had many great teachers”

“I love the club. They're seeing more traffic and running a lot of beginner classes right now, but they've hired more helpers, and Stephen is doing a great job so far after having bought the club late last year, including new motors and sails on the Catalina Capri 22's. They're also taking lots of reasonable SARS-COV-2 precautions, which helps me feel more comfortable coming out. Looking forward to more years in the club! I highly recommend the club.”

“I came to Ethan as an older somewhat new student to the accordion. I was challenged by the technical aspects of the instrument, learning music, performing. Ethan is an exceptional musician in every way. But as a teacher he taught me some important ways to approach my music which have informed my playing since. He showed me how to understand the structure of a piece of music, to look at the message the composer was trying to send. He encouraged me to relax in the music and not worry about myself or my performance. In showing me how to build chord structures around melody lines I learned to get at the heart of a song and improvise. I would highly recommend him to students at any level of play.”

“Our almost two year old has attended Petit a Petit since he was 6 months old. Kelly and her team have always been so welcoming, caring, and supportive with him. It is wonderful to know that he spends time outside, engages in activities, eats healthy food, and gets to learn French! I would recommend this daycare to anyone. They have created an environment that supports children in thriving and a community for the families as well with seasonal family events.”

“Loose Cannon does an amazing job teaching such a difficult sport. I have taken lessons from several pros in the area but have been frustrated with the results. Brian uses the data and film from Trackman to help you with your swing. He coaches you with the information in a way that is very constructive and not difficult to understand. I even received an email with the videos of my swings along with the coaching so I could go back and review. The price is very reasonable for the technology and experience the studio has. I was also able to get custom fitted irons at the studio. I'm a bit taller than the average golfer and I have noticed a huge difference with my new clubs. I brought my son in for lessons and with Brian's coaching he is now a competitive golfer. I have referred several coworkers who have had identical experiences. If you want lower scores contact this studio!”

“I have been employed at In A Child’s Path since 2011 and my experience with this business is nothing short of a supportive and compassionate work environment. I’m constantly given the opportunity to explore new ideas, experiment with materials, and engage with children through the power of play. The owners are extremely dedicated to the families they serve and strive to make every person feel at home in their schools. In A Child’s Path incorporates the sense of belonging in everything they do and truly succeeds in reaching each child’s need that walks through their doors.”

“Gratitude! Feel safe leaving my daughter in the best care, even during a pandemic. After being in 2 other centers, 3rd time was the charm. My daughter absolutely loves to go here, loves the teachers, always has stories to tell and her development is great. I can go to work relieved knowing that my daughter will be in great hands, and I’m so thankful for that!”

“This school has provided a great experience for my kids. The Spanish Immersion program gives them an unparalleled academic boost. Some of the teachers here are exceptional. You can't figure out how they do it all. The building, landscaping, parking and other amenities are as terrible as you'd expect of such an old public school. Volunteers have made good improvements over the years. It's still essential for it's kids and the neighborhood.”

“We have had our son at this school for over a year now. The difference we experienced in him was immediate. They were amazing about giving him tools to better express himself and also relate to other kids. Conflict resolution and creative learning are constant themes in the classroom. The teachers are passionate and vastly knowledgeable. This school FAR surpassed our expectations. Everything that truly matters they do very well. The location has its quirks and it wasn’t immediately lovable at first glance, but we are SO glad we looked past the surface details and gave it a try. Everyone there feels like family. I routinely tell friends that I think they are better at handling our son than we are. He’s learned so much in a short time. We just love this school.”
