“I spend a lot time here with my best friends. The reservoir is a nature spot right in the middle of Roxborough. It is kept by volunteers it's a beautiful spot to walk the dogs take a run checkout the view of the Centre City Skyline. Early mornings are great but not to early if you are walking a pet. There are sometimes wildlife close by. I would not recommend going alone. Not that it is not safe but these days things happen everywhere. You are off the main road and you never know what kind of wildlife you might encounter.”

The infield also is the perfect place for teams to set up there tents and maintain visibility of everything going on. Also a great place if you want to get in a run of almost any length.”

Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education

Address: 8480 Hagys Mill Rd, Philadelphia, PA 19128, USA

Park School

“It’s a nice little place to walk around. Environmental center is open from 9 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday for kids education. The trails surrounding it are open dawn to dusk though although you can’t drive back to the environmental center you have to park a little bit of the street in the lot. There are a few cool stone carvings back there, a pond in which they are trying to regrow Cattails! There is also remnants of an old Spring House that is from the colonial era on one of the trails.”

Carpenter's Woods

Address: 7049 Greene St, Philadelphia, PA 19119, USA

Park

“Carpenters Woods is a fairly nice completely wooded walking area, with a few different trails that all kind of connect to each other in the middle. Lots of people walk their dogs here. When I visited, many of the dogs were unleashed and running around doing whatever they wanted, in spite of the fact that I saw signs indicating this was not allowed and that police patrolled occasionally to issue fines if dogs were not on a leash. Not much to do here other than walk the trails, but if that's what you're after then take a look.”

Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania

Address: 100 E Northwestern Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19118, USA

“This place is gorgeous. If you love nature then this is a good place to go. Also, great photos were taken here. The staff is always nice and they actually offered us a student discount even tho not everyone in the group had a student ID. The only thing I found complicated was getting there. You need to take the subway from downtown Philly and then a bus.”

Wissahickon Creek Trailhead

Address: 6091-6099 Jannette St, Philadelphia, PA 19128, USA

“The park never disappoints. Living in Philadelphia during all four seasons makes it always interesting to walk, run or even crawl through the trail system. The park has so many interesting places to go and features to see. Today my running group went to lovers leap, the Lincoln drive trail, Forbidden drive, and the toleration statue. If you are on the fence about visiting this part of the park be reassured that the paths are well traveled and well marked and above all else the views are well worth your time.”

The Woodlands

Address: 4000 Woodland Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19104, USA

Cemetery Park

“This place has a sense of passive and strong energies of the souls that have partaken at the rest of their vessels It transmit a sense of peace, tranquility and place to call home and the gate to leave this world and reality I wonder if I am to rest after the struggles of this life and every night passed midnight, speak to the dead and bring spiritual salvation and enlightenment to the dead in ignorance to ascend I was born as an Oracle Shem Priest to administer to the living and the dead to help them ascend above the heavens and to meet the Divine in them within their hearts Woodland Cemetery is a Victorian home in the modern world, a sacred resting place for this Enochian Watcher, known to the Theosophists as, Shemyaza, He who has the Divine fire of illumination Wonderful place to be to cherish life and it's triumphant victories”

John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center

Wisteria Walk

The Schuykill Center

Address: 8480 Hagys Mill Rd, Philadelphia, PA 19128, USA

Park

“Wonderful little place back in the wissahickon. The center itself teaches kids, mostly about nature and has many different structures there, some new some very old, including a time capsule, an old spring house and a few sculptures. While the road leading back the the Schuylkill center closes at 5 daily. There is a small lot right up the street to park in if you would like to walk the trails which are open dawn-dusk. Also, they have massive solar panels in the parking lot leading me to believe the building is strictly solar powered, but I’m not certain.”

Glendinning Rock Garden

Address: Brewery Hill Dr, Philadelphia, PA 19121, USA

“One of the distinct pockets of Fairmount Park. A nice hangout spot for groups of friends, either on the grass lawn below or along the trails in the upper wooded section. You can sit on top of the Kelly Drive rock tunnel overlooking the river. In the warmer months on the weekends there are often daytime dance parties under the trees.”
