Caywood Nature Reserve

Address: 4294 Hills Church Rd, Murrysville, PA 15668, USA

Park

“Nice place for a hike. The (blue) trail that we took was well marked and pretty well maintained. As with most of the woods around here though there were quite a few ticks. Make sure and wear bug spray.”

Duff Park

Address: 4500 School Rd S, Murrysville, PA 15668, USA

Park

“What better place to hike on a warm spring day! The snow drop flowers are blooming and the trillium will soon follow! The stream is crystal clear. The trails require some navigation through the mud, but isn’t that the fun part of hiking? There are trails ranging from easy to rigorous so that everyone can enjoy a walk in the park! The trees will bud soon, summer will follow, and Duff will look like a prehistoric forest with giant ferns. For bird watchers, Duff is an exciting place to carry your camera! Autumn will be an extraordinary display of colorful leaves, and winter will be a wonderland inside Duff’s canopy!”

“Went to walk the 5-star trail and ❤️ it! My only set back with the trail is the homeless who hangout there. I kept an eye on my 17-yo XC runner who ran 6 miles on the trail that day. Just disappointed with the riff-raff along the trail, otherwise I loved it for walking/ jogging distances.”

Memorial Park

Address: 1500 Stevenson Blvd, New Kensington, PA 15068, USA

Park

“Beautiful park with plenty of room to walk around. Play tennis, basketball, hockey, or enjoy two of the most unique playground structures around. A stone bridge takes you to hiking trails up the hill. The creek is beautiful and surprisingly clean. Good area for finding fossils! My only qualm is the bumpy road to the parking lot. It has needed fixed for a long time.”

“On a whim, I called Penn Lincoln Memorial Park to see if they could (possibly) tell me if my long lost relative was buried there next to her husband - his grave was listed but hers was not ? She died 15 years after him so I thought maybe she was buried elsewhere ? Thankfully, the wonderful woman who answered the phone (on her lunch hour, no less) looked it up in their files, and sure enough - his wife was buried in the same plot with him - problem solved !! Can't thank her enough for going above and beyond - she's definitely my HERO !!!”

Have not e plored all the nature trails and paths but it's a fairly well kept area. We've been taking our older dogs there for their "workouts" (theirs and their hoomans).
