“Called one afternoon and they were able to deliver 8 yards of top soil the next morning. The driver doubled checked where I wanted the dirt before dumping. Easy and smooth process. Both driver and gentlemen that took my order were very professional. I would highly recommend. I know I will be using them again real soon.”

“The cemetery was very clean. The area around the gravestones was neatly cut and well kept. Jack was very helpful in identifying where my relative was buried. The office and chapel for services are old but extremely beautiful in their feeling of ancient Judaism.”

“Easily the most tranquil and quietest cemetery in the area, with some pluses and minuses. If you got the time, I have the details: Positives: Parts of it are very old (nearly 130 years old), with some huge community mausoleums dating to 1900. Some graves date back to the early 1900' s but not much before that. There is a house on the property which is almost always manned by someone and has a bathroom, which is a bigger plus than you might think. The Schuylkill River runs behind the cemetery at the bottom, but it is very hard to see and you'd have to be told it is there to see it. Peacefulness - I have been looking at plots at over 8 area cemeteries and this is the most quiet by a MILE and a half. It has no traffic, no roads, only the rustle of the river on a quiet night if you are at the lowest part of the cemetery. You are paying for peace and quiet and RIVERSIDE delivers that in spades. The driveway allows access to the entire cemetery which is nice. Drive slowly and you can take a tour of some pretty spectacular views and again the peace and quiet is rare. The Minuses: Ms. Anita pretty much runs the show here - her "assistants" not so much. Some other workers inside the admin house could not answer my simple questions and usually direct you back to Anita for more. The entrance is set off by two, very tiny, waist high pillars that are barely visible from 5-10 feet away. If I did not tell you, you'd miss them. The first sign (in white), at the beginning of the street, is very hard to see as making the turn takes most of your attention. The entrance is also not aided by one of the most unsightly streets in all of East Norriton, with unkempt homes and cars parked up and down the side of the street. The aforementioned waist high pillars say "riverside cemetery" apart from one another and are not very noteworthy. There is no archway, nothing really noteworthy given the rather hefty lot prices....but maybe that is the point. LOT PRICES: Buying plots of land here is not going to be extremely cheap - but you are buying for eternity. Buying a plot will run you a bit more than other area cemeteries. Why? Well, go to the other ones and listen for 1-2 minutes. Riverside offers some of the more expensive cemetery plot prices short of Whitemarsh Memorial Park (some 18-22 miles away) in Ambler, PA. Whitemarsh holds themselves out to be the "Rolls Royce" of all area cemeteries, and it is very nice, but plots are 3-4x the price of Riverside. Whitemarsh wanted $140,000 for the plot of land needed for my standing mausoleum. Saint Patrick's wanted $25,000 for the land and perpetual care. Summary: Riverside is easily the single most quiet cemetery within 15-20 miles of any area of Norristown. I know this because I have been to every single one that allows a larger mausoleum to be placed - and even those 8-10 that don't because I had to inquire whether they allowed for the room. CONCLUSION: I have visited at least 15-20 cemeteries in the area before writing this review and have learned quite a bit about what it takes to buy a mausoleum and cemetery land in this area. This is NOT something you want to do right after a stressful death - you want it to be done before....hopefully long before. Riverside Cemetery is a respite from the town itself which is not all that pretty. As for tombstones and seeing anyone famous, there are only about two famous plots which are noted - you can Google them for more. Being without a formal website is very odd, but "maybe that is the point." I can say that GOOGLE MAPS takes you for a very clear ride through about 30% of the cemetery, which is rare. Considering this is the last place you will ever rest, maybe peace and quiet is worth your money, maybe it is not. I do not know if we will hear traffic in the afterlife, but I know that at Riverside Cemetery, you do not hear any noise in the "here and now." No cemetery is perfect but Riverside comes close for its history and tranquility.”

“Montgomery Cemetery is the final resting place of historical figure Major General Winfield Scott Hancock of Civil War fame. There are 5 Civil War Generals laid to rest here, as well as many other Civil War veterans. It's an old cemetery, no longer in operation, but cared for by the Montgomery County Historical Society. It is still a restoration in progress. A lot of stones need repaired yet. And most older stones are mostly unreadable due to weathering. But worth the visit for history people.”
