We began prenatal care with a different midwifery practice in Providence. Though we loved our midwife, we were repeatedly disappointed by the culture of the practice and the way this effected our care. Eventually we decided to transfer to RI Women's Health + Midwifery and not once did we regret our decision. In fact my partner and I left almost every appointment saying how thankful we were that we made the change and only wish we had done so earlier in the pregnancy. From the beginning we were impressed by the way our transfer was handled - the office staff and midwives were communicative and organized. They made sure that my medication schedule was not disrupted by the transfer (I had to get weekly shots) in addition to answering my exhaustive questions. I am most thankful for the shared philosophy among the midwives on empowered labor and respect for the desires of the laboring patient. I had the opportunity to meet all the midwives and I found each one respectful, friendly and incredibly knowledgeable, citing research for their recommendations. My labor itself was long but my midwife tireless. A number of pain management options were presented and used - some were even fun! When contractions were bad and I all but gave up, my midwife helped me pull through (or rather push through). A week or so after giving birth, I returned to the practice for a lactation consult ready to give up on nursing from the pain (note, this is my second child and I nursed the first for 18months). After the consultation and prescription of a magic ointment nursing was significantly better within a couple of days! I could not ask for more in a provider. I will continue my regular gynecological care with this fantastic practice.

After many years of infertility I am finally 22 weeks pregnant. I had hoped to be able to have a home birth, but I have several medical issues that would make it an unsafe option for me to do so. It was really important to me to find a midwifery practice that could coordinate my care with a team of doctors, but which would still enable me to stay within a midwifery model of care. The midwives in this practice have REALLY listened to me and have been so wonderful. Communication between the office staff is excellent - everyone is well aware of my particular needs. They are coordinating care with my endocrinologist, a Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialist, and a consulting physician of my choosing. They have gone above and beyond to accommodate me and I'm so very grateful. They are doing their best to help me achieve a healthy, safe pregnancy and delivery on my terms. The midwives take their time with you and answer all of your questions. I've never felt rushed. They make sure you understand all of the options and that you play an active role in your care and health. I highly recommend this practice!

I was a patient at a previous practice and wasn't happy with my care so decided to make a switch or a new practice. The care I received at RI Women's Health was amazing. All of the staff from Carol the receptionist and Camille the nurse was so warm and comforting. They seem to actually care about their patients and we're very effcient. I got an appointment within a couple days of my first phone call. The office is light and decorated with a modern and welcoming feel. It was also very clean and well kept. When I arrived I waited maybe 5 minutes to be taken in to a room. The midwives were great too. They took their time with me and made sure to answer all my questions and concerns. They never made me feel rushed. I wish all Dr's visit went this well. Thanks to RI Women's Health.

I transferred to this office about a year ago and couldn't be happier about my decision. Each employee is welcoming and knowledgeable in what they do. Most importantly they don't make you feel uncomfortable by any means and are there to help you in anyway possible.
