“Waxhaw Presbyterian Church is a beautifully maintained small church with a adjoining graveyard located off a country road is a most peaceful place to visit. Notably a special memorial installed by the D.A.R., Waxhaw Chapter honor's Andrew Jackson's Mother, Elizabeth Hutchinson. Elizabeth, a heroine is the unsung equal or other great female American patriots of the era. Elizabeth lost two sons to the British and finally gave her life succumbing to Typhoid while nursing captured Patriot's virtually abandoned to die of disease on British prison ships in Charleston Harbor. Also interred here are many of Col. Abraham Buford's doomed Virginia Continental soldiers. These interred here survived the slaughter of the battlefield only to die of their bayonet and other wounds a few days after arriving for medical care. These Virginians had weeks previously traveled to South Carolina in the vain attempt to save "Charlestown" from defeat. Their pleas for Quarter while surrendering to Lt. Col. Banastre Tarleton’s troops and Cavalry were ignored. Instead of Quarter all were stabbed or bayoneted.”

“Very old cemetery. Loved it because it was so out of the way and old not sure the last time some visited there. I’d say everyone there was from late 1700s to mod 1800s I was there for at least 30 mins saw one car drive by. Don’t blink or you’ll miss it. What a beautiful place tho! So much history and the lives put to rest there lived in such a remarkable time for our country. Much respect.”
