They give out free food must have ur id n it's once a month : Sunday's 5 pm- 6pm and Thursday's 6pm -7pm if I'm not mistaken
Went for food pantry, as always show up early, be patient. This is the most organized pantry distribution I've been to, generous, excellent staff; but best of all you receive along with the food a sense of empathy and compassion from people genuinely interested in helping you thru a difficult time. GOD BLESS THESE WONDERFUL FOLKS!
Wonderful Christ-centered church, seeking to share the good news of Jesus. Classes for all age groups, provide an opportunity to mingle and study with folks in your same stage of life. Active supporters of the VOA program for women and mothers, which helps them to regain control of their lives. Great program for young marrieds, with or without kids!
Great place to worship. Kind and inviting people!
2/12 update: I have entirely rewritten my review to avoid giving the impression that NWCC is a bad Church. I think it went in a bad direction after Christmas, but had a positive impression prior to that. The Church closely monitors these reviews.
My wife and I spent about six months as members of the NW Church of Christ in San Antonio. I was drawn to this church by way of the Internet, including the glowing reviews on this page. My wife and I threw ourselves into this church for six months, to the best of our abilities. The singing was great and the people seemed warm and open.
After Christmas, I perceived everything to change. Instead of a focus on praising God, the focus in our eyes changed to one of judgment and choreography. The same structured material was thrown at us from the pulpit and in the bible study class. We were told that those not fully versant in the bible were not full-grown Christians. Generally the tone was presumptuous and condescending, as if we were there for training. On top of it all, we perceived ourselves as being shunned by the pastor after we offered a friendly suggestion about how he could have made a sermon against "walls" more balanced.
Immediately after posting the first review, we heard from Pastor Marvin, and then from Elder Bob, who, more than anyone, attracted us to become members in the first place. We also heard from some members of the social/study group. All the messages were in the loving Christian Spirit, and shone a different light on matters. So, I now give the Church four stars instead of the original 2 stars, with the understanding that they may be returning to the Godly spirit that attracted us at the start. I don't know, however, as we have returned to being members of our previous Church.
In sum, be cautious of judgmentalism and Progressivism, but cherish the strong sense of community and worship.
The Northwest church of Christ is a family of believers, united by our belief in Jesus Christ as our Savior. We are trying to grow in our faith while helping others come to know God and his Son through the study of the Bible and through living out Christianity in our day-to-day lives.

At Northwest: We are a local church of Christ, not part of a denomination, but a collection of God's people in one place, brought together through our joint fellowship with Him. We wear the names Christian (Acts 11:26), Saint (Romans 1:7), Disciple (Acts 13:52) and Child of God (1 John 3:2).
