When my daughter turned 3 years old she was diagnosed with SPD and echolalia. We knew she was a little behind in speech around 2 years of age but thought she would “catch up”. The wait and see approach was not working and after a full eval, we decided to go forth with therapy (Something my husband and I were skeptics about). Lauren changed that after just one visit- she is a Master at her craft and I couldn’t believe the changes I was hearing from my daughter after just a couple of weeks. Before we started seeing Lauren, my daughter would repeat the last word or phrase she heard ( i.e. Would you like to go to the park? Instead of saying yes or no she would say “Park”? Which was her version of yes. I corrected her daily but nothing I said seemed to register long term.) that was the echolalia, she also said yes for no and yes for yes or couldn’t tell me what she wanted for a snack....... within weeks/months my daughter was answering yes or no correctly, pulling words from her memory bank instead of repeating what she last heard me say and words can’t describe what a relief and joy it was to hear and see through our day to day rituals. Lauren herself is ahhhhhmazing, she’s a mother of three herself so she gets kids and it didn’t take her long to figure out my daughter’s quirks, dislikes, likes, and “engagement style” for therapy. I loved that I got to sit in and see everything- not only did I bring what I learned home and repeated what I had seen her do in the therapy session at home for faster results but Lauren encouraged this and taught me exactly what to do in latent terms so that I could also pass the info to my husband so that he could also help our daughter grow and learn when I was away at work. All I can say is from the first eval session with Lauren to the final, I felt confident I found the BEST speech language pathologist for my child! I’m so happy I found Taylor’ed SLP and you will be too!!
