“This a long review, but I can't say enough good things about this place. This is a summary of what I've gone through so far with this gym: 1. Culture - The family-type atmosphere here is mellow and everyone roots for one another. There is no weight-shaming in this gym, there is only sustain good form, grow your strength and endurance, and support each other. Age range here is ~15 to ~70 years old, so there is no excuse not to give this gym a shot. 2. Warm up - Every day, a warm up consists of a #RememberTheFallen soldier. We honor who they were, where they were from, and what they did to serve our country. 3. WOD (workout of day) - strength training + cardio = a challenge for you to push yourself. Darrel provides a challenging WOD everyday and gives you the opportunity to set the effort bar where you want it. If someone’s form is not correct, he will come up to you mid workout and provide some quiet guidance where he deems necessary. As they say on their website, “Workouts can be adapted to anyone, any fitness level, and any physical condition.” 4. Nutrition - Suzi is the nutrition and accountability coach. She provides a macro-nutrient approach to eating that anyone can adapt their eating habits to, since it is a non-restrictive nutrition program. Eat what you want, when you want, and track it. I’ll admit, for the first two weeks, my wife and I had a rough time figuring out how to make meals that fit our daily numbers so we could reach our long term goals, but once we got the hang of it, we haven’t looked back. Sometimes, we’ll eat the same meal, but most meals, we choose to eat differently since our eating habits are different. As soon as we chose to discipline ourselves to become familiar and trust the process of cooking and eating foods aligned with the macro-nutrient approach, inches began melting off our waists and muscle began to grow. 5. My wife and I workout at Checkpoint CrossFit at least 4-6 days per week because we have decided to invest in the health of our minds and bodies. Obviously, we want six pack abs and toned beach bodies, but we also want to set a healthy example for our children to look up to. Of course, we're not perfect. We have missed workouts occasionally and had some cheat meals, but overall, this gym provides 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. “The Triage4Pediatrics booth was both interesting and inviting as I strolled by the buffet line. Interesting because I noticed all 4 associates were females, which I stronly support female run businesses, and inviting because their “free pens” were by far the highest quality of the entire conference. I apporached the booth too compliment the team on their “free pen” quality, and something quite unexpected occurred. The owner of the company, Julie Ortiz approached me with the absolute most inviting and charming disposition I had received from any attending company. Her southern charm mixed with her natural feistiness enveloped me. I immediately called upon my associate, who owns several offices in Miami, to listen to Julie’s pitch. Over the following 30 minutes, nothing but the moat excellent and impressionable sales pitch I’ve ever heard occurred. Julie was able to engage all of us, calm our inhibitions, clearly respond to questions and concerns, but above all, leave us with the most distinct understanding and impression of southern charm. I would wholly recommend Julie’s services, not because I am aware of them or use them, but because I have seen and understood the essence of her company and what she is about based solely on my conversation with her.
