In addition to the 5.95 MGD (million gallons per day) water rights in Joe Pool Lake, Midlothian also has an additional 9 MGD available from the Tarrant Regional Water District. Water from TRWD is treated at Water Treatment Plant No. 2, which began serving the community in the summer of 2013.
