  It's a small treasure hidden in sugar land. Great place to learn about dinosaurs and planets. Excellent for small children with all these hands on science games. They have a "Collection of History and Mystery of the World" were one is able to touch articles and open drawers to look at things.

  when I was a kid we used to come here on field trips and now when I visit as an adult and bring my children I am immediately transported back to to when I was a child filled with wonder.
  
  With so many areas to explore, you could spend a full day here and still feel like you didn't see it all.
  
  They have an IMAX movie scream a planetarium a butterfly exhibit an amazing dinosaur exhibit. one of my favorite places to walk through is the exhibit that focuses on Texas wildlife and the habitats and the diversity of Texas environments.
  
  Then right next to that is an exhibit about American Indians and natives that were in the area so it's very interesting to learn about the place that we live and what was here before not just dinosaurs and animals.
  
  Our family are members of the museum and we make it part of a full day of activities. We can park at the Museum go inside walk around take it easy then walk across the street to Hermann Park in Miller outdoor theater have a picnic roll down the hill walkthrough the Japanese garden.
  
  Then if we're feeling especially adventurous we can go to the zoo everything is within walking distance.
  
  the Houston Museum of natural science and the surrounding area is my favorite place in Houston. Just be prepared if it is a nice day everybody else has the same idea to come visit but with so many areas to explore you can find little pockets that aren't so busy.
  
  A great way to plan your day is to get there right when it opens plan out your parking if you want to park in the parking garage you have to go inside the museum to pay for it before you leave there is street parking around the facility he might have to circle a couple times to get the feel of what's available and what's open.
  
  a little trick of the trade we like is to park in the parking garage and just suck up the cost of it sometimes it can be $20 for non-members but if you remember it's cheaper. Then walk across the street to the Hermann Park little train stop, and you can hop on the train for free finish the train ride and it lets you off close to the zoo.
  
  Right there is a restaurant a duck pond you can go paddle boarding or just walk around Hermann Park.
  
  if you are tired after all that you can pay for a ticket to get on the train to take you back to that first train stop by the museum and then go inside the museum and cool off get a little AC hangout look at some dinosaurs and finish your day!

  Small and effective. Tons of cool things packed into a tiny space! It was not crowded which made the experience so much better! Didn't have to yell to communicate with my wife and daughter. Extremely knowledgeable staff! There is a guy with a man bun.. he absolutely loves his job! His insightful knowledge and enthusiasm took our visit to the next level.
