Summerwood Smiles Dentistry and Orthodontics

  I was seen on December 15, 2023 at Summerwood Smiles Dentistry and Orthodontics located at 12661 W Lake Houston Pkwy, Ste. G, Houston, TX 77044 and evaluated for two implants. The insurance verifier advised that since it was late in the day, she would contact my insurance and call me on Monday. I did not receive a call yesterday so I contacted the office to obtain to cost for the services and inquire why I was not contacted. I was placed on hold for over 10 minutes for the incompetent, unapologetic, and rude "office manager" Marina, to nonchalantly advise that the insurance verifier is out sick. I responded that as a patient, end to end processes such as insurance verification, registration, etc., should be invisible to the patient and that regardless if the insurance verifier was ill, I should have received a call back to advise that there would be a delay in receiving my quote. The "office manager" Marina, also rudely stated that if I am in a rush, (which I never indicated I was) that I can just go somewhere else. This is not the attitude that any "office manager" should have when managing a smaller practice. A competent "office manager" would understand workflow processes and procedures and would ensure other staff members are cross trained and can cover for other staff member (in non clinical roles such as insurance verification) when staff members are ill. The response should never be to just go elsewhere. Management should have a discussion with Marina on how to effectively manage a dental practice and how to retain patients with exceptional customer service. I feel discriminated against possible due to my ethnicity of African American. A full investigation should be launched regarding this complaint.

  Amazing experience!!! The office & equipment is extremely modern, making my visit aesthetically pleasing. The professionalism of the entire staff also helped to ease my mind. Dr. Rhodes was incredible. NO PAIN!! I would definitely recommend Summerwood Smiles.

  The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The waiting area is nice and inviting. I never felt rushed. The x-rays took a lot longer than at other places but they did more of them and they were digital. Overall it was a good experience and I will be going to them regularly. Only downside is there is a lot of waiting in-between. The initial exam, x-rays and cleaning took 2 hours.

  Monica, The receptionist is so personable. She remembered my name, my job, and the project I was working on. Literally the friendliest receptionist I've ever met. Marina was very nice and seemed genuinely concerned about my comfort. Dr. Kim explained the procedures more than any doctor I've had, she answered my questions thoroughly and was the utmost professional. I was very impressed with the Dr. Who performed my root canal and her dental assistant also. This was by far the best dental office that I've visited. Summerwood Smiles makes you feel like you are the only patient that they are seeing. This level of friendliness and knowledge is rare!! Thank you for all you do!

  I was greeted with a barrage of smiles and hello’s. The entire staff was very knowledgeable and comforting. I didn’t know what to expect from my procedure so I was naturally nervous and had a lot of questions. Everyone involved made me feel very relaxed and assured me that they would take good care of me. They explained everything they were doing step-by-step and before you know it we were finished! I am super satisfied with the level of professionalism and will definitely be back!
