“Every change we experience in our lives will always start in the mind. I believe this is just part of the human condition. For most of my life, my mind has been my own worst enemy. I have had great difficulty with self love and have relied on negative reinforcement for as long as I can remember. This pattern of behavior left me sad, angry, unsatisfied, and seemingly incapable of living the life I wanted for myself. I felt trapped/pent-up, and never wanted to give myself permission to let my true self out. As a 31-year-old man, I have been in therapy with more therapists than I can count on 2 hands throughout the course of my life. Very few of them were able to help me make significant life changes, and even fewer since I left college and moved out on my own. For me, the traditional style of talk therapy is just not conducive to affecting real, lasting change. I needed something that would impact me in a deeper way, other than sitting and talking with someone about my past traumas. Then there was David, and he was a breath of fresh air. As of the time I'm writing this review, he and I have been working together for about 4 months. Within that time, I have seen myself slowly but surely start to change old thought patterns and behaviors that I had been dealing with for my entire life. David has helped me to accomplish this by reminding me that it's not my fault and never has been, and I don't have to keep beating myself up and holding myself back. He has helped me to see my true value and worth, which is something I can say I have rarely if ever seen. Words can't express how truly remarkable he is at what he does, and how natural it all feels. His services are also incredibly reasonable - I wish I had started seeing him sooner. “I should have posted this years ago...shame on me. I wanted to say that we had a fire at our house overlooking Lake Travis a few years ago. We called the fire department and they showed up very quickly and were able to save the house, only the deck burned up. Without their efforts, we would have lost our home. I've also survived a bout of Leukemia, came back home where I had to relearn how to walk, talk...all that jazz. One thing I didn't know about, I'd have seizures. I had one 16 months ago where I was life-flighted to a hospital. This fire department made it there before the helicopter and helped get my messed up body onto the chopper, none of which I remember, thankfully. Go Pedernales Fire Department, thank you for all you have done for our communities and families!”
