“Great hole in the wall place that seems to take you a step back in time. The quaint grocery store which serves up food is a gem and worth the try. We had burgers house fries and onion rings. All was great. The burgers were a thick patty. Fries were house cut home fries. Onion rings were crispy. Also had a sampling of the pinto beans and a generous serving of apple cobbler. Apple cobbler had just the right amount of cinnamon. Everything was great tasting. The establishment is small with gravel parking with a step up into the restaurant so access is not very wheelchair friendly. The staff is extremely friendly and make you feel right at home. The limited offerings on Friday and Saturday night come with live music.”

It was here I asked about any special events that the Decatur Courthouse Square might have and the owner readily told me about every third Saturday the square blocks off a street and shows off all the wonder business' surrounding the beautiful granite court house! I see an entire network of people working together -- giving tirelessly of their time, their love -- to feed the hungry, sick and poor, and support every single person that comes to God's house in word, deed or with prayer when nothing else will do. We moved here to Wise County at God's direction, far away from our loved ones -- parents, children, and friends. Many, many smiles and greetings greet us with a warm familiarity that reminds us that although we may not know their names or situations, they are our true family, brothers and sisters in Christ. Scott and I have been struggling with many heavy burdens -- but silently. But Jesus' eyes saw us, and tears coursed down my face when I saw that someone asked the church body to pray for us this week. We still do not know what we need, or what we are supposed to be doing here, yet we are reassured that our God will supply for all our needs.”

“It’s been years since I’ve ate inside at Chicken E. (Kids will do that) I can’t express how patient, kind, and helpful the staff was today. From great customer service, to being personable with my family. My kids being toddlers wanted an egg from the machine they have that was not plugged in, the staff went above and beyond to stop and plug in the machine for them. And then my crazy kids wanted sweets from the other quarter machine, momma didn’t have coins but another staff member offered them some coins for candy. Talk about great human beings!!!!! They sent us on our way with cookies, not to mention an extra cookie for our little at home!!! Great service, great people. Will definitely be back again.”
