“As an art student at the University of Houston, this art museum is convenient and welcoming. I love seeing the rotating work by students artists and visiting artists. It is a great museum to check out, my favorite time of year to go is when the grad students host their end of the semester shows! Totally worth a view.”

“A really cool place, that sadly i didn't know much about until we get there. Lots of good history and you can take most of it in with a quick stop. A great and quick ride to the top to look over the harbor and also a couple of smaller exhibits down at ground level. I'm not sure if there was a wheel chair accessible ramp thought o get up to the main doors.”

“Educationally and interesting experience. The wait time for the tram taking us back to the Space Center was however very, very long. I am convinced the world's most technologically advanced organization can find a way to optimize that process.”

“Our family truly enjoyed our visit to the Johnson Space Center. The tram we rode, with the knowledgeable tour guides was very informative as well as interesting. Our son was super excited, there was so much to do and see. Truly an educational experience. We will return in the future. I recommend the Space Center for all families.”

“I took the "Hard Hat" tour with a group of my friends. This tour is led by a (very, very well informed) team of volunteers, and visits parts of the ship that are not open to the general public. As the name states, you are issued a hard-hat for the tour, as some of the areas accessed must be reached through low openings, or traverse stairs with places likely to find your head unexpectedly. It takes over three hours, but it is well worth it. Fascinating stories, and an incredibly fascinating ship. Well worth the time and cost of admission! Highly recommended.”

“We went on the coldest day of the year! But the historical re-enactors were excellent. We enjoyed their stories and sharing about the way things used to be. We really enjoyed the gift shop too. It was a great visit even though it was way colder than we had been in a while. They had a fire in the fireplace. We were thankful for that!”

“Love it here. We went on a super slow weekday and there was barely anyone else there. It was great! A little hot but the tram they have helps out a lot with that. Very helpful staff and volunteers. Everyone was very sweet and informative. Sat with some of the staff and chatted for quite a while. It was really nice. We will definitely be back! Glad to have something like this so close to home. Love the self paced atmosphere and tons of historical facts and information. Can't wait to go back when it's not 90+ degrees so we can walk more than wait for the tram.”

“Houston’s Museum District is the place most outsiders flock to when they want to visit a wide variety of museums. I agree that this is a great place to start, but the fact is, there are many other excellent museums to visit in the Houston area that are located somewhere else in the city and a prime example is the National Museum of Funeral History. Most people feel a little creepy about visiting a museum dedicated to funerals and dying, but once you experience this hidden gem, you will wonder what ever held you back. The museum does include a large number of hearses, coffins, etc, like you would expect, but it has much more to offer than that. The section on presidential deaths, the tomb of the unknown soldier, the life and deaths of Popes, and others will pique your interest and keep you browsing. One section at the National Museum of Funeral History that caught me by surprise is the one dedicated to celebrity deaths. Here, you will learn about famous people, many of whom died younger than expected. They even have copies of the actual funeral order of service/program that was used when the celebrities died and they have exhibits and audio that take you back to fateful moments, like when John Lennon was assassinated. To keep things entertaining, the National Museum of Funeral History has videos, trivia, and other fun, interactive moments, like creating your own epitaph. The gift shop is larger than expected and it is where your visit begins and ends. They have several t-shirts that are quite amusing and I recommend buying at least one before you go. Houston’s museums are many and while the National Museum of Funeral History isn’t as well known as the ones in the Museum District, it is definitely a place you need to visit. The many exhibits, the hearses on display, the educational lessons, and so much more add up to a museum experience like few others.”
