“Nice little nature preserve. This was our second visit. We have now done all of the trails here. Northern loop features woodland walking past a picnic area, Scout camp, and bird blind viewing a wet meadow; 1.5 miles of walking, a bit marred by highway noise. South trails are accessed by a brief bit of paved road to a nature center and old homestead connecting to a small network (2.5 miles) of trails through more woodland as well as Bald Cypress marsh. The southern trails are a bit quieter and more interesting than those to the north. Interesting historical features at the homestead. Very pleasant place for a family outing.”

Eagle Ranch West Pocket Park

Park

“The most important thing to know when coming here is to DO NOT LEAVE VALUABLES IN YOUR VEHICLE. IF YOU DO PEOPLE WILL BREAK INTO YOUR VEHICLE, and FIND WHERE YOU HID THEM. DON'T BE STUPID AND THINK IT WON'T HAPPEN TO YOU. IT'S NOT IF......IT'S A MATTER OF WHEN. And if you have left stuff in your vehicle, and nothing has happened yet. Then you have been very fortunate. ** The park is only as safe as you make it. Don't be a victim. Don't bring cash, credit cards, social security cards,or anything you don't want to disappear. PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR SURROUNDINGS and you should be fine. AGAIN if you FAIL TO FOLLOW THE ABOVE and your vehicle gets broken into, don't look for a Pity party for your own stupidity. For Christ sake it's not the best surrounding area of town.”
