“Since 1954, the Defense Language Institute English Language Center (DLIELC) has performed its mission to support the policies and objectives of the US Government and the US Department of Defense (DoD). DLIELC started as the US Air Force Language School; our primary mission was to teach English to Allied pilot candidates. In 1966, our mission expanded to include other career fields, and our school moved under the DoD, with the US Army as the executive agent. DLIELC assumed its present form in 1976 when the USAF became the executive agent. We have come a long way since DLIELC’s inception, and in 1993, we inaugurated our modern campus located at Lackland AFB, Texas. The campus includes headquarters and academics facilities, a library, dining hall, officer and enlisted quarters, and student administration buildings. Small classrooms, equipped with the latest in training technology, are specifically designed to support student-centered instruction. In addition, the DLIELC curriculum meets the diverse needs of the adult military population with tailored courses that address the specific language requirements of our students’ career fields.”

“I was fortunate to get to send my son to The Pineapple School and I only have good things to say about the staff and curriculum. The facilities were always clean, all the teachers and staff were always smiling and were always so sweet and helpful. My son was always excited to go to The Pineapple School. One of my favorite memories was when my son was in one of the infant rooms and I could see through the window outside that his teacher was holding him and dancing. They both had big smiles on their faces. My son was very engaged and excited to learn Spanish. I was very blessed to have been able to send my son to this great daycare and would recommend to anyone.”

“Speaking for athletic students, I attended this school for 2012-2016. Played basketball all but my last school year. If you fail to keep your grades up you will be suspended for a few games. However if you are one of the coaches favorites, you will somehow be able to play. I’m not sure what you call if (favoritism)... if you’re a good basketball player, it’s not good enough. As far as for the classroom, most teachers care about your well being, just try not to get on they’re bad side, or it will be hell for you.”
