Shannon, is in my room every morning to see if there have been any problems, issues, or concerns since the following day. I like this, it puts a person's face with the situation.

The staff is attentive and delivers things, such as pain meds, in a timely manner.

I would recommend The Envoy for the care of a friend or loved one.

Envoy of Alexandria was very helpful and consistent with my care. Envoy encouraged me to try my hardest and helped me regain my full potential. The staff here truly cared about my recovery and well-being.

The staff at Envoy of Alexandria went above and beyond to make my brother happy during his stay following surgery. After reading this you'll see what I mean. It started on day one when we made an impromptu visit. Not only did we get a tour but we were greeted by the executive director, director of resident and family services and the chief physical therapist. The facility is very clean and is located in a very quiet , lovely neighborhood. It's an older building and we were told it used to be a hospital. Once my brother decided it was where he wanted to go after surgery, the care liaison coordinated everything with his insurance company including ambulance transportation from the hospital to the facility. On the day my brother arrived things did not go well. Not because of anything at Envoy. But because he had a bad reaction to pain medication he was given at the hospital after surgery. He was very sensitive to light and sound. He had no appetite and he was extremely short tempered and agitated. Not like himself at all and he was ready to leave. I was totally confused and at my wits end. The executive director asked if there was anything she and the staff could do to change his mind about leaving. I told her the only thing I could think of that could be making him act the way he was acting was the pain medicine because it was the only thing new that he was taking. I asked if the medication could be stopped just to see if it was the cause. I told them prior to the surgery he was using over the counter pain medicine and I thought what was prescribed for him might be too strong. She did not question me, just called in the lead nurse who agreed the med could be the problem. They stopped it and within 48 hours he was back to himself. There's more. During his state of agitation my brother was not pleased with the taste of his food. It was a side effect of the medicine. His favorite food is eggs and on this particular day he had not gotten them as requested for breakfast. The executive director came up with an idea. She asked if he'd like to prepare his own eggs as part of his occupational therapy. He said yes and they made it happen the next day. I really think this was one of the main reasons he agreed to stay :) In addition to this, the director asked the lead chef to come in an talk with my brother about other things he might like to eat and the chef prepared some foods especially for him. All of this happened during the first three days of his stay. By day three the pain medicine was out of his system and he was very happy the remainder of his four week stay. This is what I mean when I say the staff at Envoy of Alexandria went above and beyond. I don't know if any other facility would have been as caring and patient and do all they did for my brother. My brother was also very pleased with the care he received from the nurses and physical therapy staff. I would definitely recommend Envoy of Alexandria to my family and friends.

My mother in law is here. Being old and sick around old and sick people is never going to be great, but this place is ok. They take good care of my mother-in-law, a little better maybe because we check on her a lot. They treat her with respect, personal attention, and, yes, love.

Having checked out the alternatives for a medicare/medicaid facility, I believe it's the best in Northern Virginia.
