“Glen Allen High School is more than a school, it's a family. We received tons of media scrutiny in the past few weeks out of nowhere. We are a positive school. Our school hasn't won a home game all year, but each game our student section is packed with students who continue to scream at the top of their lungs for the team they love and support. We grouped together to elect a kid diagnosed with down syndrome as our homecoming king. All of a sudden, we accidentally play a racist song during warm-ups of a football game followed by an evacuation because of bomb threats and we become the worst school ever. Not true. We evacuated approximately 2,000 people in under 6 minutes without ever practicing a drill. The student that accidentally played the racist song personally apologized in front of the school, and in front of the entire Henrico Board of Education. Last year, our Boys Varsity Baseball team and Competition Cheer Team won states. We are a prestigious school regardless of media scrutiny and misinterpreted rumors. We are the Jaguars.”
