“So this is a newish micro sized BK, it can't be more than a couple of years old. I swear this place was so clean and shiny when I visited on a recently that I thought it had been planted and grown overnight. It's a bit off the beaten path as it's located at the very top part of Newport News just before you get to Yorktown. I was on my way to Richmond to do some photography at Belle Isle and we decided to stop and get some breakfast. The location for this BK worked really well for us because there's so little at this exit that we were able to hop off I64 and pull into the parking lot a couple of moments later. The only other business nearby is a 7-11. Since they was no traffic we were the only customers at that point and were able to walk in and order right away. The staff was friendly and everyone was wearing masks and observing social distancing, etc. While the dining room was open, there was no one eating within. We ordered our breakfasts and decided to take them back to the car and just stood outside and enjoyed the morning air while we ate. I haven't had a BK breakfast in quite a long time and found my croissant was was excellent. I had a side of tots and a cup of coffee to round out the meal. There were no trash cans in the parking lot so I returned inside to throw the bag away when we were finished. This was a great little BK from what I've experienced. I'm likely to stop here again on my way to Richmond in the future.”

“Food is really good. Sauce is towards the sweet taste style of red sauce. The house dressing is like a zesty Italian so it has a bit of a bite. Lots of variety on the menu. Pizza fries too. Most of the staff are very warm and welcoming. Great portions and food is served hot. Has outdoor dining area as well as run down/dated cozy inside. Only downside to this place is the neighborhood behind it and the tiny giant convenience store next door. There are some rough people that will harass you at night and they tend to target women more. So use caution if going alone. Wish they'd just move the restaurant to a new place.”

“Bob and Edith's is a regional chain greasy spoon diner. They are open 24 hours. Everyone seats themselves, when they are full they don't take your name down to make a list - you wait "in line" until a table is free then you go and claim it. I showed up at 11:30a on a Sunday, and as expected it was crowded. We had a short wait but got seated within 15 min. For what it is, everything went well. it was clean, we got our order in pretty quickly, and the food was served somewhat quickly and was decently tasty. Our server was attentive and refilled our coffees and waters regularly. My over easy eggs were cooked over easy. This was my first time at a Bob and Edith's (I'm not from the area) and I would go again to try more of their menu. I was too full for dessert but hope to remedy that soon. For the price and how everything went, it was good enough! A tasty breakfast meal at a crowded, noisy and clean diner.”

I had the Chicken and gravy with Mac and cheese Peach cobbler and Lemonade. The Chicken and gravy we're okay and the Mac and cheese could use some seasoning BUT...That Peach cobbler...I almost had to go back for another dish straight up DELICIOUS!!! Definitely Homemade. PERFECT!!! The Lemonade, I mean the Fresh Squeezed Lemonade was Awesome. Definitely will be returning to Mary's Diner the next time I'm in Town. P.S. With a couple of seasoning packets with Me😉.”

The cheeseburger was better than fast food burgers. The 13 year old said the chicken fingers and fries were good. The desserts were average, but they seemed to be “store bought.” I did not like the macaroni and cheese, which is strange as I enjoy most macaroni and cheese. The inside ordering area of the restaurant was dirty, so that was a downside. Overall, the food was good and the service was friendly. I view this place as a fast food type stop but better than fast food. Be sure to check the prices to ensure it is within your range.”
