We are in our 3rd year with Miss Maura at Let’s Play Music. My daughter has learned so much! I love how music theory is taught gradually and effectively over 3 years through play! My daughter complains about anything that’s “not fun”, so this was perfect for her. She now has strong music appreciation, she plays piano, and sings on key. Miss Maura is a talented, enthusiastic and patient teacher. We will always appreciation this great foundation in music that my daughter got through this class.
So, I love music and I've signed my kids up for several different music classes in the past only to be disappointed. Too often it seemed like the teacher only had a moderate grasp of musical concepts, they would color some music notes shake some egg shakers and sing a few songs and that was it. Then some piano teacher friends recommended "Let's Play Music" classes from Maura Brewer, and I reluctantly signed up. I was completely blown away. The class is set up with clear expectations and rules to keep things orderly and fun. It is designed to set kids up for success, nothing requires their attention span to be longer than a few minutes. And I haven't even started on the actual content! It is brilliant. Every song, every movement, every direction so deliberate and tied to high level music theory and music intuition. I'm learning things! Miss Maura is so patient, attentive, kind, and consistent. I really can't say enough.
We have been so happy with Maura and the Let's Play Music program. As an accomplished musician myself, I knew I wanted to give the gift of music to my children. Through lessons with Miss Maura over the past three years, my daughter has received an incredibly comprehensive music education, including music theory, technique, ear training, classical music appreciation, and so much more, all while having fun! Maura and the Let's Play Music program provide young children with a solid musical foundation in an age-appropriate and engaging way. Highly recommended!
Maura is an excellent music educator with years of experience. As toddlers, my kids learned to play singing games, echo pitches and rhythms, and sing solfege (Do-Re-Mi). My pre-schooler and 1st grader are learning to match pitch while singing, reading music, recognizing I-IV-V chord progressions by ear, learning key signatures, scales, and can compose their own pieces on the piano. I highly recommend this program and teacher!
Maura Brewer is an amazing music teacher. Specifically, she is an amazing music teacher of young children. Anyone who has been around toddlers knows that trying to direct them in a group, or at all really, is akin to herding cats, but Maura does a fantastic job of making music, even classical music, fun and engaging.
As someone who as benefited greatly from music education, it was important to me to expose my daughter to it early and often, and the Let's Make Music program has yielded incredible results. We had some concerns about our daughter's speech and within a couple months of being in class, she had a verbal explosion and to this day people say she sounds like she is singing when she speaks. She also already sings on pitch and has a strong sense for rhythm and meter.
And most importantly, she LOVES music because Maura has taught her to find the joy in it with her kind yet enthusiastic approach. I'm so glad I was recommended to her and whole heartedly recommend her to anyone who wants their child to experience the awesomeness that is music.
