I would pick him up from his previous school and he would be standing alone with his sweat shirt pulled over his head. It was a challenge to get him to want to go to school. Then comes Benson Hill. After the third day of school... he blossomed. No more sweat shirts. Hat off and a huge smile! Priceless! By the end of the school year he was reading at grade level! Thank you Benson Hill! “Coming to this monastery for several months, I am always very excited for friday night zen meditation and buddhism class. It is a great way to end the week, and when they have events on Sundays (ceromonies, half day retreats, etc), it is the perfect way to start the week! The nuns and volunteers always welcome you with a warm smile, they are a very delightful and helpful group of practitioners :) The classes are not like your typical lecture, they are easy to follow and the head nun is very funny and makes it very enjoyable! The meditation is very calming and effective :).”

My favorite part is not even the fact that the kids have various classes structured as a play; or that they go to professional swimming classes; or homemade food; or playing outside most of the day. I really enjoy that my child thinks of this place as a family. The teachers established an amazing balance of safety and independence for kids; and my 3 year old feels empowered to make her own choices and build relationships. She is not an easy child, but unconditionally accepted and loved there. The only complaint I get from my daughter is that I didn’t let her stay till the last child is picked up”
