“Dr. Karen Pletta has been our peds doctor for over 20 years (I think it's actually been 27 years, but the years have flown by). She's Simply the Best. Calling us after hours or even on the weekend with results so we'd know what was going on or just to alleviate concern, especially if our visit was on a Friday; this was long before MyChart and cell phones were the norm. She listens, has empathy, unwavering patience even when our children were young and not the best behaved. When our kids were hospitalized, she made sure to visit at the hospital and kept in constant contact with hospital doctors to ensure our children's continued care and prognosis. When others wouldn't listen to concerns, she always did. It helped us find an obscure ailment in one child that had been passed over as a childhood oddity that the child should grow out of. When we moved to Madison, we thought it would be easier to be closer to a doctor there for our youngest who struggled with pneumonia and asthma and switched to a recommended Madison doctor- big mistake. We promptly switched back and have never regretted the extra drive time or wait. As my older children aged, their biggest regret was not being able to keep her as their primary care physician; the 34 year old laments it, and our 11 year old is happy to have her. More importantly, he feels safe, heard and feels he can be honest with her, which means the world to us. Our family honestly can't say enough positive about her; we feel blessed to have found and kept her in our lives all these years. We're so thankful for her service.”
