The fee was only 1% and there was no extra charge for me - as a non-account holder - to purchase them. I had previously called another chain to request travelers checks and they only offered the service to account holders. Also, the teller knew exactly how to have me fill out the paperwork and gave me tips for redeeming the checks. She knew what she was doing and in this modern age of casualness and inefficiency, I so appreciated the knowledge and professionalism displayed.
