When I arrived at the church around 8:15 AM adoration was happening, so I was able to pray in front of the Blessed Sacrament before Mass began. Fr Gerald was very kind and understanding as I had my travel luggage with me in the church. "I was a stranger and you welcomed me." God bless Fr Gerald and the parishioners at St James!”

Additionally, some areas were undergoing restoration, limiting access to certain parts of the cathedral. Overall, the Washington National Cathedral is undeniably worth visiting for its architectural beauty and historical importance. With a more controlled visitor flow and completed restorations, it would have been an even more exceptional experience. A solid 4-star rating for this iconic cultural and spiritual landmark.”

“5 months ago today I started a journey that I’ve always felt the need to do and be apart of, just never knowing how to make it come to fruition. I started going and being involved with church of the open door. Going that first Sunday all alone I was filled with anxiety of if I was going to enjoy it, if I could find a spot where I fit in, and find a group of people to make into a second family. I wanted to go in and just fly under the radar to feel it out. But to my dismay the greeters at the front door swooped me up and took me over to the welcome desk. And from that moment on I knew that I was at a second home for myself. In the past four months I’ve met some amazing people who I’m proud to call my friends and so many people have helped to make me feel welcomed and a sense of belonging. I truly believe after the year my family had in 2022 God is trying to pull me in close and there was no better place for that to happen than at Open Door. From Sunday service, helping in children’s ministry, and going to my life group every Tuesday night it’s hard to imagine how my life looked just a few short months ago before I began this journey. I’m so excited to see what the Lord has in store for me. ❤️”
