“I’m sharing my experience today because I have not been physically inside a driver license office since 2008. I have always been able to renew my license online but this time I wasn’t able to for whatever reason. A few pointers before going. By 2025 all REAL ID will be mandatory in NC, so if you’re renewing your license, you might as well get prepped for the REAL ID. Bring a certified birth certificate and social security card. I arrived in line (outside the building) at 7:43am. One of the workers did a prescreen asking everybody individually what they needed done, which I thought was thoughtful to save time on what you are missing or may need etc. Once in the building you will be asked to scan a QR code with your camera on your phone. It will then send you text messages to text back an option what services you need. In my case option 3 – renewal. I then received a ticket number with a text message saying you can wait in the car, but I opted to wait in the lobby. The 2nd text I received was stating I can proceed to the lobby. The final text was stating my ticket was called, but like I stated before I waited in the lobby and the screen on the wall kept up with the ticket number as well. After a certain time, they cut off the amount of people they can see. I want to say you were no longer able to scan the QR Code after 9:30am. Everybody walking in at that time was asked to sign in on the clip board and was not guaranteed a spot. I was called at 11:00am, the lady was a little sassy, but it didn’t bother me she still was pleasant to me. I left the building at 11:20am. My word of advice is to get there at 7:30am or earlier and plan to be there for a few hours. I was prepped with snacks, tablet, and a book. With two workers they are doing their best to see everybody, I hear sometimes it’s one worker so it could have been worse.”

“I just have to give a BIG shout out to the guys who take care of us! From street to sanitation, power, water and gas departments-- these guys deliver excellent service to us!! We had a power outage on our block at 2am. I called to report and by 3:30am, the fallen tree had been cut down and power restored by ONE man! My neighbors and I couldn't be more thankful for the urgency the city put on getting us powered back up. I'm amazed that one man did all that work on his own, and in such a short time. If you see a city employee, wave and say thank you. They do so much for us!”

“I got help from Richard Bloom’s Office on a complicated EDD case after requesting help from other Elected Officials (whom didn’t respond). I also spent hours and hours on the phone for days and did two appeals. To me, they were a godsend! Previously, I met his Staff at community events and they are always friendly and helpful with lots of resources. The EDD was messed up from the very beginning. They are part of the solution not the problem. I find Richard Bloom a responsive Elected Official, whether a City Councilmember, Assemblymember, or the next Board of Supervisor and I have worked with several Elected Officials over the last few decades. Don’t blame the messenger. They didn’t HAVE to hire additional staff for helping his constituents on their EDD problems and they did! “I got pulled over last month , got a ticket . Believe it not the officer was super nice . Did the back and forth with the prosecutor and ended up with a reduced ticket . Still had to pay a fine , so I called and asked if I could pay it late . And the court was generous enough to say yes . So I just paid it and I have to say from the police officer who pulled me over all the way down to the ladies in the court office they were such wonderful people !! It was bad enough to pay the fine but it was great to deal with nice decent kind people !! But won't be getting any more tickets”

The tidy laboratories appeared to me after a tour to be fairly well-equipped although some of the instrumentation was old and obsolete requiring special skills. They inhabit the building where the blood bank once was.”
