“(3.5 stars. Food alone would be a solid 4 stars while overall dine-in experience would be a weak 3.) Located at 3925 Sedgebrook Street in High Point, Kaya offers Korean and Japanese cuisine. Lunch specials are available. Tucked into a shopping center off 68 near the High Point-Greensboro border, Kaya hits a number of hidden gem checkboxes: it's unassuming and easily overlooked, it's family-run and popular among locals, and the food is, by and large, good. That said, I would hesitate to give this place a rave. A no-frills establishment, Kaya is nevertheless quiet and clean. It offers a familiar selection of hibachi dishes, but Korean is the main draw here. A large, pictorial Korean menu greets you upon entry. For those seeking authenticity, dishes like spicy squid or braised pig trotters let you know that you are in the right place. My wife and I opted to split a seafood pancake, a bimimbap, and a spicy pork. As expected, they came with an array of banchan, and portions were plentiful. Though food quality varied, nothing was worse than average. The spicy pork was delicious. It was served hot with onions and slathered in a delectable sauce. The seafood pancake's dough-to-seafood ratio favored the former though it was still quite tasty. That said, the bimimbap was a mixed bag. I appreciated the array of vegetables included though it was fairly light on meat. It also was not served sizzling, but that was my fault for not realizing that I needed to order the dol (stone pot) version. Staff here are polite, but they will leave you alone unless you specifically request something. Chalk it up to custom rather than any kind of intentional indifference. For what Kaya charges (entrees in the teens), the plastic silverware and styrafoam cups felt like penny-pinching. The variety of Kaya's offerings and the quality of the spicy pork alone make me want to give this place another chance, but I would probably opt for takeout rather than dine-in in the future.”

She got the chicken burrito and I got the order of flautas with 2 asada tacos. The quality of the food was great and so was the service. “I love this place! It's a step up from so many cookie cutter Mexican restaurants out there where everything looks n tastes the same but not this place. Food is great and visually pleasing. Been waiting a good while for a Mexican restaurant like this to come to Montpelier and I'll definitely keep going back and going back and going back! Staff is always so nice n accommodating for dine in or when I get it to go. Update--they used to not have a bar to actually sit at due to COVID epidemic I'm sure, but good news is, NOW THEY DO! I've always been a sit at the bar & eat/drink kinda girl, so having bar seating makes me so happy! The staff is STILL super friendly, pleasant & accommodating! “For so many years I’ve been driving past this little restaurant sitting well established deep within the aquifers of zoflo springs. While so many continue to drive right on by, the smart ones come to a full stop here. All train tracks end here as momma is the back conducting the kitchen bell. All pioneers coming through found their fountain of youth, inflation was certainly not found here! The buck stopped at cash register leaving plenty in the kitty. The coconut cream pie is one of the best I have ever tried and could be mistaken for ice cream. There is nothing fancy here but all good homemade cookin and table spirits.”

“I had my engagement party at La Taverna Lounge towards the end of February. Everything was absolutely perfect! Our server (Marilyn) and bartender (Justin) did a phenomenal job of having things run so smoothly. I didn't have to stress at all day of and was able to enjoy myself. The food was also amazing! We did the Brunch Buffet and I would absolutely 10/10 recommend. All of our friends and family raved about the food! We also got our cake from the bakery and we loved it so much. The red velvet cake was so so fresh and I was still eating yummy leftovers up until almost a week later with no change in flavor. Would absolutely recommend having a party here!”
