“Our second stay at this cute secluded rental home and we had as much fun as the first time, maybe even more! The night time firepit was awesome and private. The owners said hi the one time we ran into them and seemed really nice. Lots of parking. VERY clean, surprisingly so actually for being out in the woods! The owners have kids so have a couple cameras up to watch them outside, but we were never bothered. Bonus: there was a kitchen area so we could make breakfast and save a few bucks from the downtown. We are already planning our third trip here!”

The well-maintained campsites offered ample space and privacy, and the stunning views of Portage Lake were simply breathtaking. The campground facilities were top-notch, with clean restrooms and hot showers that made camping much more comfortable. The friendly and helpful staff added to the overall positive experience, ensuring we had everything we needed throughout our stay. One of the highlights was the abundance of outdoor activities available. We enjoyed hiking the nearby trails, which offered a diverse range of difficulty levels and rewarded us with stunning vistas. Fishing on Portage Lake was a delight, and we even managed to spot some local wildlife during our stay. The sense of tranquility and serenity at Portage Lake Campground was unmatched. Whether sitting by the campfire under a starry night sky or waking up to the soothing sounds of nature, it was an idyllic retreat that rejuvenated our spirits. The only minor downside was the limited availability of electrical hookups, but it was a small trade-off for such a pristine natural environment. Overall, Portage Lake Campground is a gem of a destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts alike. I cannot wait to return and create more lasting memories in this picturesque paradise. “My husband and I recently got married on the property! This place is absolutely stunning and the host Marlene was more than accommodating! We had a small wedding and rented the apartment/Airbnb on the property! Marlene fulfilled all my wedding wants and went above and beyond with her details and personal touches! She’s blew myself and my guests out of the water from the ceremony setup, to the cocktail hour to our reception and dinner! She not only met all my requests but also did everything she could to make sure my guests’ needs were met! Also accommodating elderly family members meant so much to my husband and I! The property was absolutely stunning and gave us lots of options for both the ceremony and reception! Would highly recommend this home for rent as well as this property for a wedding hosted by Marlene! Couldn’t have asked for more in my special day!”

“Oldstone Inn is truly a hidden gem. My husband and I stayed there for a much needed pandemic getaway and had an incredible experience. The grounds and views are beautiful but the real standouts were the food and the lovely, attentive staff. Breakfast and dinner were exceptional, without being pretentious (as often happens with fine dining). Many of the team members are Blue Hill at Stone Barns alumns and their passion for their craft was evident in every single dish. They took care to modify dishes based on our dietary preferences and it was a pleasure speaking with the chefs, who came out periodically, as well as the servers, who were happy to tell us the story behind each dish. We can’t wait to return and check out the outdoor casual dining menus which will be rolling out soon.”

“You can tell that the hotel and building are both very new with some kinks still being ironed out, but overall it’s a great place to stay if you’re looking for space at a reasonable price. Many of the restaurants in the community are in the process of completion so I expect there to be a lot more so do in the immediate are in the near future. The check in process was simple and low touch, as the majority of the experience. It’s very much similar to living in a condo and less so like a typical hotel. The parking while convenient is also somewhat egregious at $35 a night given the ample space that exists throughout the area. The pool is a nice bonus but has limited hours, is quite shallow and for some reason requires a lifeguard. The doors in the rooms struggle to close fully due to the humidity in the region and poor installation but this is a minor gripe. The kitchen space is ample as is overall space in the unit itself. Dressers in all rooms and king beds vs queen would have been appreciated, but again these are minor qualms. Highway access from the community is good as are grocery stores and shopping as a whole. If you come in with the right expectations this place will likely deliver what you’re after. If you’re hoping for a full service hotel experience then you’re probably better off looking elsewhere.”

“I was there for scuba cert sat and sun mornings. They have a course set up. Nice beach, plenty of tables and room. I thought it a little expensive for a beach, but maybe that's the going rate for a nice beach(private) don't know as I hadn't been to the beach in three years. I would go back.”
