“I remember 25+ years ago when we had a really bad storm there was this kid that leaned on the tree right in front of the school to try and take cover from the rain...i wanted to get into a safe place and when I turned he got struck by lightning. The teachers yelled for him to get inside but he was so scared to move that he hugged onto the tree. I ran right passes him when "BAM!" The lightning hit the tree at the same time that he was about to let go. His hand was smoking. ....his hand was literally smoking!. The students reacted quickly and saved the young man”

“Didn't attend Green Acres Middle School. I DID attend the former Green Acres Elementary School from 1976 to 1981. I count those as some of the MOST bittersweet years of my, then, young life. As I am Gay, I was teased & outright BULLIED so very much, during Elementary & Junior high school, that (though I had a natural thirst for knowledge) I would cry, beg & plead with my mother to not have to go to school. And, this bullying did NOT end with my fellow classmates. NO. Teachers & other parents were involved, as well. I pray that the Birmingham City School System has made SOME progress in the area of bullying & HOW it is dealt with, since those days, for the sakes of other students like myself.”

“As someone in their thirties who has never read music or played an instrument before, I feel so fortunate to have found a talented harp teacher in Kaffee. She is extremely patient, explains things in an understanding way, gives realistic advice, and is fun to talk to. I started taking lessons four months ago, and despite my busy corporate job and occasional lack of practice, I have been able to progress confidently with playing a variety of songs. Her lesson book is great for learning different harp skills, though you may want some more songs to practice in between as the lessons can move quickly from one new skill to the next. I also love taking music lessons in her studio since her cat likes to hangout nearby and listen to music. :) Thanks, Kaffee!”

“This school was so nice, I had made so many friends and still in contact with two of my best friends from this school:) this school was so nice but the last year I was at the school it was ehh, I missed the old staff and the old principal it was really fun, but they got new staff and they're more idk, not fun? I just really miss the 2015-2017 era of this school. Overall, it's a nice school and the education it's pretty good and they're kinda strict so if you consider bringing ur child here plz do!! Some people are mean though”

“I had a date night their last night. We had the intro class. I came in ready! My date, he was a bit on the anxious side as he's never EVER danced before and admitted he has no rythem. However, at the end of our lesson, his excitement went from a 1 to a 5. He said he would dance again and enjoyed it. Our instructor Ashley was so down to earth, fun and kind. She made us feel so comfortable and welcomed. She also slowly brought us out our comfortzone to help us reach our goal. My date and I got to dance some swing together and learn some basic Maringa steps. He really liked the Maringa! I'm so glad we got to have fun a try something new. We will definitely keep this school and our instructor in mind when we are ready for future lessons.”
