“Lovely park with great views of the water, San Francisco city and the pier - perfect spot to enjoy the sun, have a picnic and take photos. Small carpark and public toilet facilities available. The only downside was that we were harassed by a homeless person there.”

“Beautiful campsite. The hike up has great views of the Golden Gate and the surrounding hills. We took a little hike up the hill north of campsite to watch the sunset and the city across the water. Absolutely fantastic.”

Haypress Campground

Address: Sausalito, CA 94965, USA

Campground Park Lodging

“Haypress is relatively close to the Tennessee Valley trailhead parking lot. There are several sites arranged in a linear fashion and a large group area. If it's a sunny day then you'll get lots of light/heat as the trees are to the west of the campsite. As backpacking sites they are some of the larger I've seen. Overall the campsite is roomy. Expect lots of bird activity in the morning. There is no water at the campsites, nor is there water at the trail head. No fires allowed. There are bear boxes to hold your food. The pit toilets are some of the nicest and cleanest I've seen. You can get a parking permit when you make your reservation. **There is no play structure at this campground. The auto-selected images Google provides depict a structure on Catalina Island (??)”

“Great place to relax after a run through the headlands. Some driftwood to sit on, surfers catching tasty waves, a fresh water estuary to explore, and a beautiful area surrounding you! The parking lot has showers, bathrooms, and water fountains. There are a few sporadic picnic tables strung about, as well. The drive to get there and back is scenic, too!”

Campsite 5

Address: Belvedere Tiburon, CA 94920, USA

Campground Park Lodging

“Amazing Campground! Need to reserve very early since it fills up fast. Incredible views! Lots to explore. Filled with history.”

Angel Island East Bay Sites

Address: Belvedere Tiburon, CA 94920, USA

Campground Park Lodging

“There is water and a very gnarly pit toilet available. Site #2 is great for several tents whereas site #3 is a great view. (I didn't visit site #1). Site #3 has a great view of the Bay Bridge and San Francisco but there is very little flat ground. For this reason I'd suggest #2 if possible. Regardless of specific site, you will be sharing the campsite with raccoons. The staff recommends leaving your tent unzipped while you're not at camp because the "raccoons will get inside it one way or another" and "it doesn't matter if you have food in your tent or not".”

Angel Island State Park

Address: Tiburon, CA 94920, USA

“Had a great time here with my wife. We hiked the North Ridge + Sunset trail loop. The trails are well cared for and were not too difficult. The total hike took us just under 2 hours but we were moving fairly quickly.”

“Such a nice place to camp especially if you want to go into the city it’s only 15-25 min away! There is a steep hill from the parking area to the actual campsite but it’s so short it doesn’t really matter.”

Point Bonita Trail

Address: 94865, CA-1, Sausalito, CA 94965, USA

“Lovely little lighthouse on the bay. Dramatic walk up to the lighthouse with great view of Golden Gate. Dogs are not allowed but people still bring them but you could be refused and asked to go back. It also sucks for people who are uncomfortable around dogs.”

Kirby Cove Campground

Address: 948 Fort Barry, Sausalito, CA 94965, USA

Campground Park Lodging

“We didn’t camp here since you have to reserve it like a year in advance. We did, however take a hike down and hang out in the cove and it was such a unique spot and perfect view of the bridge. Totally worth the hike. Also, the beach is made of the coolest little pebble sand, we may have taken some home ????”

Coastal Trail

Address: Coastal Trail, Sausalito, CA 94965, USA

Park

Hawk Hill

Address: Conzelman Rd, Sausalito, CA 94965, USA

Park

“It's the highest hill hovering over the bay and golden gate bridge. I have been there three times every time I visit the Bay Area. Since it's usually cloudy in there, I only got to enjoy the view from there once and was there till after sunset. I didn't want to leave. It was absolutely such an amazing experience.”
