“Employees are generally pretty nice. Overall the care is good. The one drawback, however, is it is owned by a big corporation. As such, they can tend to overlook things in order to save money. This is an older property and needs some attention. As a case in point, there are about 170 residents here. There is very little outdoor space to speak of, just a few sad umbrellas, providing almost no shade -- and it gets HOT in Vista. The facility desperately needs to invest in purchasing updated outdoor furniture and canopies. Much of the shade is taken up by employees on their break - they should defer to the sickly patients who need fresh air! Also security here needs to be tightened up. There's no receptionist after 5 pm.”

“After caring for my disabled aunt on my own I realized that she needed more care than I could give her. After searching for a better fit I found Forest view. The home is warm and welcoming. The ladies that live there are always smiling and doing different activities. The property is beautiful with lots of animals and a great view. They are always working to improve the home. Carey and her husband are very attentive and they truly care about the needs of their live in guests. My aunt is happier than she has been in years. I highly recommend Forest view.”

“This facility has been under new ownership for almost 3 years. My dad has been a resident for 8 months. Since he has arrived, he now sleeps through the night, eats almost every meal served, and laughs a lot with the staff who calls him papa. He receives regular baths, a shave and nail trimmings. The large open area affords him views of the hills and birds outside. I appreciate that his room is always clean. The staff and management are quick to respond to any needs or questions. They are working through some remodeling right now, but are very sensitive to the residents' schedule and peace. This is a welcoming and warm environment. Many times I have seen workers just sit and hold the hand of various residents during a quiet evening. It truly is a family environment.”

“It wasn’t until my fourth pregnancy that I finally found the bravery to go through a birth center. With my first, I was induced and the cocktail of medication they gave me knocked me out to the point that I didn’t remember the birth or the day after. 15 years later it still breaks my heart that I can’t remember the birth of my son. With my second and third babies, I was able to avoid all interventions in a hospital setting, but it still was too procedural and trying to get the birth I hoped for was a battle against the nurses. With both babies, nurses were rushing in last minute to barely catch the baby because, as I warned them, I progress very quickly. With my fourth, I finally decided to seek out something better. As soon as I met Cristi and her amazing staff, I knew I had found something different, something special. Even my husband who wasn’t on board with the birth center idea was all team Acorn after touring the center. “I can tell you’re going to love it here” he said and he was right! The care I received was a night-and-day difference from what I’d received in the past. It wasn’t the cut-and-paste appointment I was used to. I wasn’t just another patient on a conveyer belt. It was personal. Honestly, it was fun! The ladies were warm and happy. Their confidence about birth was contagious. My previous non-medicated births had been painful to the point that I was a bit traumatized and I was very fearful. The first thing that went through my mind to be honest when I found out I was pregnant is “I can’t do that again”. The more time I spent with these women, the better and more self-confident I felt. When the day (or rather night) came, we called Cristi about an hour after closing to tell her we were on our way. Even though I told her I thought it might be a false alarm, by the time we got to the center, my team was all there and ready to go. The room was warm with soft lighting and they were prepping the tub just as I’d requested. The entire experience was so far above and beyond what I’d expected. It was amazing! My team were so kind and gentle. They were so intuitive and knew how best to support me every step of the way. My baby came just before 4am and it was really a miraculous experience. Such a difference from the hospital. They watched my body for signs of tension and helped me to breathe and relax which is a huge pain reliever during labor. Rachel applied pressure to my tailbone during the final stages and it provided immense comfort. It was such an easy labor, I know I could do it again with their loving help and support. If we decide to round out our family with another baby, I will be back for sure! I wish I could have had such an amazing experience with my previous births but the experiences I did have allow me to appreciate this one all the more.
