Play Garden Preschool

Our family moved to Cupertino from out-of-state. I was very anxious about finding the right preschool teacher for my child. After searching extensively and reading reviews on Yelp and Google, I started interacting with Ms. Riem over e-mail. She was very responsive and accessible in her e-mails, providing me every possible information I needed -- not just about her preschool but also about apartments, grocery stores and every other thing around. I imagine she felt my anxiety about traveling across the country to a new place because her emails were so precise, thoughtful, and full of detail. It was only after having met her in person that I figured she is this bundle of enthusiasm, affection, and passion all the time.

Before we registered at her school, Ms. Riem encouraged us to take a tour of all the other preschools that I had shortlisted. Of course, I started our tours with Playgarden Preschool. After that tour, every other school I toured felt overcrowded, ordinary and run of the mill.

Ms. Riem is all about compassion and communication. She is very attentive to every child's feelings, acknowledges their emotions and keenly observes their behavior in the classroom. She thoroughly listens to the parents' concerns as well. Her extensive experience as an early educator is evident from the kind of questions she asked me to know my child. I have never met any preschool teacher who is so genuine, loving, respectful, meticulous, energetic, and as passionate as Ms. Riem.

Ms. Riem also organizes several events at her school and encourages the children to come up to the stage and speak/sing in front of a group of people (the parents and grandparents). My son is fully ready for kindergarten. She has prepared him to handle bullies, taught him manners, taught him how to be compassionate, and so many other life lessons that I cannot begin to describe.

I highly recommend Playgarden Preschool. Trust me, it is the best preschool in Cupertino. If the school timings work for you, look no beyond. You will be happy that your child associated with Ms. Riem and the other children at her school.

My son enjoys very much for his two years preschool life in Play Garden! I'm really appreciated that Ms Riem is a very passionate and whole-hearted teacher. To make it clear, let me put it in point form:

1. Even our son's first language is not English, Ms Riem is very patient to teach him everyday. Ms Riem is talented in learning different languages and can communicate with my son using simple words of his mother tongue!

2. The play based structure let my son learn in a happy and joyful way. Everyday is full of fun! It is not a big school but everything is included. Toys and materials are kept rotating so children never get bored.

3. Home based environment enables kids to feel warm, safe and secure. Even kids are not yet potty trained are welcomes. Ms Riem is very patient and responsive to parent's questions, helping my son to settle down his new life in America!

4. Lots of family activities including visiting the Fire station, Picnic, Halloween Party, Thanks Giving Party and even Mother's Day Tea! We can have plenty of opportunities to observe our kids in school, to communicate with teacher and parents, and get to know the traditional important events in American schools.

5. Ms Riem focuses a lot on teaching manners and social skills. Kids are trained to be independent and get ready for K. My son behaves very well and is very well prepared to K, including excellent speaking and listening skills in English. Mixed age class also provides a good atmosphere for kids to learn and grow.

I definitely recommend Play Garden to other parents!

We love Play Garden Preschool.
My sons really love the school and Ms.Riem.My second son graduated last year and third son goes now.
Even my oldest son was not there loves Ms.Riem.
The school is small but very comfortable and has enough fun event!
Ms.Riem has a rich experience and very warm hearted person!

Love it here for preschool. My son (hence the name) loves it here. I believe if I were to put my son somewhere else for preschool, he wouldn't have grown as much as he did. The preschool teacher is very down to earth and very personable. Always greets her students with a smile and a huggy every morning during drop-off. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good preschool program for their kids. Trust me, you would not regret it, I would have put my son in it earlier had I known about this place before. It's too bad that her philosophy on education doesn't translate to the elementary, middle, and high schools.

Students in the school are from different countries.They are all polite and friendly. Mrs Riem is very nice,careful and in patience. She will help kid putting on jacket when kids play in yard in winter. and take off jacket when it is hot. Kid are only allowed to eat health snack and water or milk in school. She invited parents to attend a lot of activities and holidays celebration. She email us to tell what happen about your kid and answer your email in time. My kid only can speak a little of English at the beginning,but he made a big progress during the year. Our families all love this school.
