Coffee: I had the Coffee Latte, perfectly delicious with frothy milk and not too sweet! It also looks beautiful, and they were quick to make it.
Study spot: 4/5 Plenty of people working on laptops in here, but not too many outlets or table space. WiFi password is at the register
Parking: plenty of free parking out back!
The shop was really cute and clean, and the location is really convenient. I stopped there while passing through, and I'm so glad I did! The coffee was good, and service was fast. And there was anpan, a Japanese sweet bread - I suppose because it's located in Japantown. That was a nice surprise!
GREAT COFFEE SHOP ! My wife found this place online and it sounded pretty good. We tried 3 coffee shops around San Jose last trip in July and things needed to get better. Our flight arrived early in the afternoon last Tuesday so we drove the rental car straight here. It's a re-purposed gas station as the name implies and they've done a good job working with the lay-out. A few tables and chairs inside including a bar counter plus stacks of tables with large umbrellas on their huge street facing patio. A friendly dude took our order for 2 lattes with 2% milk & Hazelnut Syrup in porcelain cups. Our lattes were made by 2 different baristas......Derrick & Nina. We picked them up at the counter and sat inside because it was a bit hot outside. Our lattes tasted very nice.....creamy and full of flavor. My wife liked the Swan latte art in hers. They use Verve Coffee Roasters from Santa Cruz here. New to us but we liked the flavor. We thanked the staff and said we would be back on Thursday. As we were leaving a uniformed San Jose Police Officer walked into the outdoor patio. But all the focus was on what he drove up in and parked outside....a 1964 Plymouth Fury with a 6.2 liter V8. Pretty cool and it's a fully operational police car. I had a quick chat with Officer Rich and my wife took a pic of us. We thought this place was really good !
Great corner coffee shop open earlier than most surrounding businesses in J-town & offers a great spot to sit & enjoy surroundings.
One of cleaner coffee shops I’ve seen in San Jose, nice design, friendly staff & great tribute to the gas station owner Roy who had a station here on this corner from 1946 to 1990.
For sustainability-minded folk, get your coffee in a for-here cup & choose food without plastic wrapping from the case. I love the retro coke machine which still serves cold bottles of Soda in reusable bottles (wish they were all like this!)
Warm, friendly vibe, cozy space inside, and plenty of patio seating outside. We went here on a Google Maps recommendation, and we were delighted! We both had espresso drinks, and the taste was sweet, and slightly caramel, with no bitterness. The milk was thickly frothed, creating a beautiful creamy topping for them to work their art.
It's off our beaten path, but it's good enough to be worth a trip of it's own!

Roy Murotsune is now 89 and owned Roy's Gas Station since 1946, his family re-purposed it and turned it into a coffee shop. What I didn't realize was that Roy's Station Coffee & Tea is DOG FRIENDLY! I tweeted to them, making sure they were so Alfie could come on a mid-morning...
