Keep in mind that classes can get busy and there are students of all different skill levels. Arturo will provide personal attention but to truly learn the sport, you need private training or to join the fight team. He’s a pro fighter with a great record and a great demeanor—the gym’s culture comes from his positivity. Easily one of my favorite places in the whole of the Bay Area. A note for beginners: proper footwork and punching technique are the most essential components of boxing and when you’re starting out, they’re both difficult and tedious. It takes a while to truly learn how to throw a punch and how to hit the heavy bag let alone how to spar. Give it time, past those first few sessions. And if classes seem tedious, try starting out with a couple private lessons.”
