Surfers Point at Seaside Park

Address: Shoreline Dr, Ventura, CA 93001, USA

Park

“Relaxing and authentic surfer hangout. There is a boardwalk and bike path along the beach. Many benches to sit and enjoy the breeze and sounds of the surf breaking on the shore. Informal art work found in many spots - people just do stuff like chalk art, leave messages, pile rocks into sculptures. Good place to watch surfers catching waves, or catch some yourself if you're into that. Parking: the lot I parked in - right off the beach - was small and free.”

Big Rock Preserve

Address: Ventura, CA 93001, USA

Park

“Great little preserve ran by the Ventura Land Trust (VLT). Entrance is off the bike path that follows Hwy 33 towards Ventura. Park under the 33 Hwy and Casitas Vista Road. Hide any valuables out of sight in your car so nobody walking around gets any ideas. Walk towards the park and then down the bike path a few minutes and you'll see the trailhead sign on your right. The entire trail(s) is only a mile or so but you'll find the river back there. According to the VLT you can enter the river and explore just be safe and respectful of the nature there. There can occasionally be vagrants near the area so I'd always go with a buddy. Have fun!”

“Nice spacious campsite, room for several tents. Two fire pits, two grills. Large tree and creek through camp. *WARNING* Be careful anywhere on that trail, especially right alongside the creek. There is poison oak all over the place. Before you go, familiarize yourself with what poison oak looks like and avoid it at all costs. I've been pretty miserable since my trip.”

Ojai Zen Spa

Spa Park

“Miss Ying has an unbelievably safe presence. Normally it’s extremely difficult for me to completely relax during a massage but being in her energy field during cranio-sacral therapy must have been very safe because I fell asleep at one point. I was in a deep place of peace. If I lived in Ojai I would go often. I will make occasional special trips to experience this again even though I’m rarely in Ojai. At this particular point in our nation’s history and in the world’s history I think it particularly important and pivotal to be mindful and act from a place of stillness and peace rather than reactivity. This still presence fuels everything we do in the world and what we create for ourselves and the world’s future. I want to be part of a positive change rather than simply reacting to what is wrong. The experience she provides is part of that effort for me. It reminds me to be still and use our highest wisdom at work, at play and with connection of any kind to people and our environment. 2018-12-02. My second visit. I got the hot stone this time. See my first review. The second visit was also very relaxing. She was so adept with the movement is stones that the stones seemed to be an extension of her hands.”
