“Holy cow, this is in the middle of the mess called the Bay Area?! Very nice park that seems way outside of a busy area, but is right next to it. The roads to get to the campground are rather curvy, so it takes a while longer than expected to get down into town if you need to go, so try not to forget anything but the stress of being in the middle of the East Bay!”

“I was there in 1991. Mostly good counselors. Pretty low key. It was considered a privilege to be there so for the most part people were chill. ”

“The camp ground is gorgeous! The sites are spread out nicely and in the winter if your out there, you'll be all alone. The stalls are clean and we'll maintained! Being a former park ranger, I can appreciate a job well done!”

“Other than the asphalt by the bathrooms breaking apart and no lights to show you where it ends at night or in the bathrooms, it was a fantastic time. Big campsite. Plenty of room. Nice layout if you want privacy. Big group and we had 5 tents one single and 2 family size and 2 dual family and it all fit and we were not right next to any other tents. Great place for the party and feast.”

“Beautiful campground. A little compact but there are some more secluded sites. Do a scout of the sites before making your pick. My favorite part was seeing the Coho salmon spawning (late December).”

“Beautiful campsite with all amenities. Our spot was great, right next to the water stream. They have clean flush toilets and food is just a 3 mile drive to the nearest town - Lagunitas. Highly recommend for a good getaway from the bay area.”

“Great location. Feels like you're so far away from civilization when in fact you're not. Great view of the lake and the bay as well. Highly recommend!”

“Heather at the front check in office is a great person! She was welcoming upon checkin, professional, knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. KOA should acknowledge her for that and continue to employ staff that matches her quality. Our stay was great! Our two young children (4 and 5 yrs old) had a fun time....many fun activities for children to participate in and enjoy! Peacocks were another exciting surprise for the kids! We plan to visit this location again in the future.”

“Fantastic Luxury Cabins... We stayed in Wren's Next (Cabin #1), and it was an awesome experience. The cabin has a fan, lights, electric heater, 10+ charging points, outside electric point for BBQ and 1 queen bed and 3 single beds (2 are top bunker beds). Bed Linens are not provided as part of the stay, needs to be carried. Very clean and comfortable stay. Bathrooms are flush toilets and hot showers are provided on pay basis. The Madrone cabins are right next to the Madrone Group campground. FireWood is available at motorhome at camp taylor close by for $8. Lots of trails and can visit creek near by. We will definitely return here.”

“Visited this location with a group for a special event. I enjoyed the location. Lots of shaded places to setup tent. Two parking lots and hiking trails near by. Also a short drive to a swimming hole, or super short walk to the stream. There is a beautiful cathedral of redwoods here as well. Facilities were clean and well kept throughout the weekend. I think this is a great spot for groups. Just be aware of the poison oak!”

“Orchard Loop Campground. The spot we had (40) seemed private enough. It was the off season though. The bathrooms were mostly out of order. The area was really beautiful. All the trees were nice but it did make it difficult, but not impossible, to find a spot without little roots to place my 2 person tent under a tree. Again this was in spot 40. Unfortunately hammocks are not allowed and they are very adamant about telling you that verbally and with signs. Saying all that I would still stay there again.”

“One of the best hiking spots in the east bay”

“So peaceful and quiet. Even on a 100 degree day it was nice with a cool breeze blowing through what’s left of the giant pine trees. To bad there wasn’t any water flowing in the creek. Also we saw the cows!”

“We absolutely LOVED this campground. We were very fortunate to get a campground for a second night, as we made a last minute decision to stay. The bathrooms were convenient and clean, we we're about 100 ft from the ocean; perfect for watching the sun come up and set. Not sure I want to camp anywhere else, now that we've been spoiled by Francis Beach.”

“kind of lacking because of the drought right now, but when things subside it's definitely the most awesome place in the county”

“This camp spot is easy to get to, a good choice for family weekend escape out, and it is well maintained by the city. Plus, because you will be camping by the ocean, you get the opportunities to enjoy all kinds of activities. The view here is amazing.”

“Friendly neighbors on the beach the only thing is PCH is buzzing around right behind you but if you're not super sensitive to sounds then the ocean tide helps drown it out. Enjoyed making a bonfire nightly and waking up on the beach in our tiny two man tent. Bench and firpit are complimentary in the $35/night stay if you want quieter perhaps Sycamore campground we just visited didn't stay there.”
