“San Onofre state campground. Dry camping, long steep hike to beach. Surfer beach, not as crowded as other nearby beaches.”

“The trail attached to the campground is an amazing hike! Very beautiful views of the island. At the top, you can see both sides. Not for the beginners but not fully intermediate either. Heading out by 10am ish and you will get in the mountain shade for roughy 30-40% of the hike. Nice for the warm days. No boulders or benches to sit and rest if needed, will need to set on the ground or side of the hill. Adventure suggestion: Walk from town to the trail head or take the bus for about $2. Hike about a quarter of a mile past the 2mile marker and on the left there is a nice spot to sit, meditate an take in the sights. Then make your way to the top of the trail and there is no benches but a shaded stone wall to sit and eat some lunch. Take it all in, it’s beautiful up there. Then take the road to the left will lead you to another split, stay left. This will take you through the Garden to Sky hike and out of the gardens dropping you off at the bus stop.”

“Older RV Park, well maintained and friendly staff. Passport America accepted for 10 days. A good value for 30AMP Full Hookups. There are many permanent residents here, some units aren't in good shape, but my stay was pleasant, pretty quiet and all that I expected.”

“Great trails for social rides, and areas for hiking, camping, nature walks. More technical riding available for those in need of something more challenging than the calm loop. Make sure to support FoCC to keep this great park open and cared for!”

“Loved this place. Tons of wildlife. Nicest hosts. Just a tip though... Do not cook near or after dark. The raccoons are pesky and persistent.”

“We had such a lovely time here. Plenty of peace and quiet. The only troublemakers were the rascally raccoons. The hosts are nice, the place was clean and equipped well. -1 star for only cold coin operated showers. Not upset about paying for the shower, only that it was icy. All things considered it was a great campground and I'd love to return. We enjoyed the area but be prepared to drive to the beach and attractions.”

“Variety of sizes at individual sites. Showers require tokens-available at machine by the bathrooms. Friendly ranger at check-in. We did not have a reservation so the ranger had us drive through and pick a few we liked then return to see if they were available to book.”

“The setting for this recreation area is sublime. Stunningly beautiful. It says Campground, but I'm not so sure. Definitely not overnight, that much I do know. I'll edit this when I go down there and find out more information. I've known some of the Rangers for years.”

“Service is a little slow at times but they make everything to order. There is a great selection of meat and fish. Lots of vegetarian options and every day they have new specials. One of my favorites for an early dinner and drink or a lunch with my parents. Highly recommend the fish tacos and the chicken wings.”

“I'm still here. Leaving tomorrow so far it's been very awesome. The host is really nice. I even ran out of sugar and they had sugar and gave me some. Definitely coming back in the future.”

“Awesome place! Seashore, Meadows and Woods. Abundant wildlife and Bay views. Even beaches and a museum about the significance of the place”
Address: 5200 S Pacific Coast Hwy, San Clemente, CA 92672, USA
“Its a place you can actually reserve, unlike other beaches around here. It is a little tight where you camp, but if you hang out by the beach it shouldn't bother you. The walk to the beach is a little long, but you have time to take walks when you are camping. Parking can be a problem if you have visitors so plan ahead. Stores are quite a drive too so plan ahead. Beaches are nice.”

“Apple white day campground, I enjoyed my day there it was clean & not to crowded, bathrooms were clean, alcoholic beverages allowed, water was nice & cold for the hot summer day,”

“Camped one weeknight and our first time there. It's not bad for weeknight; I don't know about weekend. Train came by once in a while, but stop after 1030 or 11PM, and started again at 555AM by my smartphone. Of course the noises from the freeway are constantly there and it's sounded like waterfall. Over all we still have good time there.”
