“My bf and I stayed for two nights two weeks ago and had a great stay! Our room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great too, and I noticed the manager come to check and have the staff refill everything even when breakfast was ending soon. My bf loved the waffles, and I made myself a breakfast sandwich. People at the front desk were very friendly too. The area felt safe with plenty of parking, only thing is you can hear people in the hallways if you’re a light sleeper, but was not an issue for me.”

Swanson Campground

Address: Dinkey Creek Rd, Prather, CA 93651, USA

“We stayed at Swanson Meadows because everywhere else was booked. I'm so glad we chose this campground. The reservable campgrounds were packed! Swanson is a hidden gem. There's only like 8-ish campsites so there's never a ton of people. There's great trails through meadows from the campgrounds. The pit toilets were pretty stinky, but other than that, we loved this site. Very dense conifer cover. We let our dogs run around off leash. We went Labor Day Weekend. Of course we tried to NOT PAY since it's a non-manned campground. Ranger came around and collected money. No complaints though. Small price to pay for such beauty and seclusion. Campsites are far away from each other (most are at least). So glad we stayed here rather than JAMMED PACKED Edison or Dora Belle.”

Limestone Campground

Address: Kernville, CA 93238, USA

Campground Park Lodging

“Stayed with friends at spots 18 and 19 in early October. We had sites closest to the main road which turned out to still be pretty quiet. We could hear the Kern River down below, and an easy minute or so walk down proved worth it. There was a bit of foot traffic by fisherman down the path behind these campsites, otherwise they were very private and were roomy with plenty of privacy. Bathrooms were close and fairly well-maintained, and a short walk away was the "Croc Rock" which was a fun surprise. Highly recommended!”

“Two words sum up this charming guest house - Utterly Superb! My son and I chose to commence our holiday in California at this wonderful location and it was the perfect way to begin. After a long and tiring journey we were warmly welcomed by friendly staff and a comfortable, clean and well presented room. After a perfect night’s sleep we felt refreshed and ready for our adventures. Breakfast was fantastic with delicious home cooked dishes (I still want the recipe for the homemade granola too!). The location is perfect for exploring and the beach is a short walk, the house is charming with period decor carefully and tastefully updated and appointed with modern amenities. I loved the piped classical music which gave a very calm atmosphere. The staff were attentive to our needs and ever friendly, providing great local knowledge to enhance our sightseeing and at all times my son and I felt welcomed. My only regret during our 2 night stay was that we were too busy to indulge in the cheese and wine served in the afternoon but judging by the wonderful homemade cookies and sweet treats left out for us, I have no doubt it would have been equally sensational! I cannot rate this guest house highly enough, in a world of sterile concrete and steel hotels which put business efficiency and guest turnaround before customer experience, this location provides the perfect and proper way to relax and unwind on vacation. I would (and will) definitely return in future. Thank you so very much to Violetta, Delaney and all your kind staff, you made the first 2 days of our American adventure the perfect welcoming experience!! Simon & Thomas Cree (Lincoln, UK)”

Thank you for making the sign up/pre-work for camp seamless and the week at camp for the scouts exciting, challenging and fun.   I kept telling our adult leaders "I think this is going to be an easy and fun week at camp, they seem very flexible and organized". “Second time I’ve been here. The first time was back in June 2018. I saw a “Stargazing” sign on the way down to a hike and was curious. I really didn’t know what to expect, maybe some constellation searching or something. But it was way more than that. Mike, the owner, is very prestigious astronomer with about 30 years of experience, working with companies like Meade and being consulted by many other organizations. He built a small house with a rolling roof and has very large and expensive telescopes that he uses to show what the night sky hides in the distance. The things you could see with this equipment is mind blowing. It was so good I decided I wanted to go again with my girlfriend and so we set out and we’re once again amazed by everything in store. Truly a great experience and the best thing is that every month the night sky changes so you are bound to see something new every time. Highly recommend !”

We had a great hike at the Trail of 100 Giants, which is only 5 miles away. We stayed in a room in the charming main lodge which was built in the 1930s. The room was cozy, clean with a really comfy bed. Nancy and Ray were friendly and responsive. Highly recommend - plan a trip here!”

“Quirky house in a quirky place. Àmazing sunsets from the helipad. Nice hikes. China peak is nearby. Two families stayed, with kids aged 13, 12, 10 and 10. It was perfect for our 3 day weekend. WiFi at the inn was a must since mobile connection here is spotty. The area was pretty hard hit by the 2020 Creek Fire. Amazed how secluded Big Creek is despite the power plant. There is an unfortunate hum from the plant turbines. Bring you own food - the drive to Shaver isn't an easy one.”
